I am still looking for a pair of clowns locally because I don't want to buy them from the fish store but they always die I have had a lot better success buying fish from established tanks

You should find a good store you can trust. If they have good quarantine procedures then the clowns should be fine. Also get them small and make sure they are captive bred. As they will be more hardy.

The problem is the closest store to me is 30 minutes and that one sucks then the next ones are all 2 plus hours away and I'm in Canada where we can't buy fish meds

Ya it looks like I can get microbactor 7 on Amazon have any of you used it for that
Just to answer this question, yes that works but it’s in a density more appropriate for ongoing usage. They have XLM which is intended for initial seeding.

Tanks don't cycle, surfaces do. If you add established surface to the tank... It's cycled! The fact that the tank is big does not change this. Depending on your rockwork you may need more media in the filtration system to handle more fish as you add them but a chromis is not very heavy on that.

The cycle went well and I am just coming out of the ugly stage now and now that I got a conch the sand is getting cleaned faster

Here a picture of it now
