Cycling diatoms

When I dose to 2ppm of ammonia tank cycles that in about 12 hours but i still have nitrite off the charts. It's been over a week now and no change no diatoms no nothing should I water change to get the nitrites down or leave it how it is and wait it out?

Ohhh just wait lol
You were not joking i noticed a couple little brown stop and with in 3 days I have a brown tank all over sand, rocks, glass, mp10s, and return nossle on my Nuvo 40 it's about time I started to see some life.

Do diatoms feed on the nitrate from the fish less cycle? I have been testing then almost every day and my nitrates are slowly coming down

yes, all algae feeds on nitrates and phosphates. Even if youre testing low nitrates, it could be that youre algae is "eating" most of the nitrates allowing the test to only pick up a fraction of what you have.
Thats usually the case when I see "zero nitrates but tons of algae-help!" lol

This is 3 days of diatom growth
