D e V i L ' S AURA!!!

Really nice zoas, but agree that the price tag is a bit too much. $50 per polyp would be the upper end of the range of value IMO, if they actually look like the pic.

One of the main problems I have with these is that I've seen them around multiple times, and they were always for rocks of them and worked out to more like $5-10/polyp. Someone sees these and doesn't have enough experience and thinks they're "Super Duper" Rare, and thinks they also look like the pattern of the PH (which is not THAT unique--it's the colors) and suddenly you have a $90 polyp.

The reason why whoever has the colony is seslling that much because somone offered him two polyps of purple hornet for one polyp of this for trade ? so he priced it that way but agreed if somone sould a colony of 8+ purple hornet for 700 would u buy it ? same principle iits what it possibly can worth of course everyone is trying to make w.e money they spent on that coral im sur ehe was charged an arm and leg. but hey i paid and arm and leg for a polyp i think it's worth it. you would understand if u were zoa collector like i am.

Who misinformed you, he prob paid a fewdollers for it, if you knew the mark up on coral and what you pay for it you would throw up.

loL some people are zoa collectors like you.........check out nanofins own site he probably has one of the most comprehensive list of zoa/palys that includes some of the rarest ones too.

At least half of the people that have posted in this thread, including myself, have impressive collections of zoas/palys. If you need to compare notes, send me a PM. I have 40+ flavors in my collection.

And as a collector, I have perused the web, fellow reefer's collections, and fish stores in search of the latest and greatest, and your's I have seen a number of times before, labeled as a deepwater or something alike.

With the respect of everybody
I think if the seller whants to sell the zoas for 700 or whatever its his price. We have to respect that like if its a Tyree or Jason fox frag
Ive seen people pay for 1 polyp of Purple Hornets for 300 dollars while some others payed 50 bucks for 1 polyp

I always say if you whiling to pay for it do it. Its your money, if its to expensive for your pocket dont even bother posting if the frag is normal or what ever

On the Miami post some say is a high price frag and some other says that is very nice and its from Jason fox that makes it exclusive. For me its just a nice chalice for Jason said thru his very close friends and himself Its the time, money and love that he has invested in is tanks is what makes the frag get the price tag
Some will pay for it and some wont. crap some will go to MACNA the first day and get 2 frags and pay $3000 and feel happy

So lets not discuss or brag about how much a polyp or chalise has to cost who ever whants to buy it, Its up to them

We never said what he could or could not charge. We gave our input, which we are fully entitled to do, in regard to the price being outrageous, which it is. If someone does not want the input then they should not post that I paid $$$$ for coral X.

I agree, if someone wants to pay that much, that's fine, but it's going to be someone that is inexperienced and naive that does it, which is what makes it wrong. All they see is "Super Duper Rare." Someone who is a collector or let's just say owns and shops reguarly for zoa/palys is not going to pay that much because this polyp is not rare. It's nice, but not $90 nice. It's the same debate we have been having in other threads about pricing coral. Get a new unproven wild zoa, slap an "LE" or "Rare" in front of it, name it something catchy, and charge an outrageous price for it. That seems to be the norm these days...

$700 is the retail price, and fish stores always charge top dollar, they have to cover their overhead costs. In a couple months the price always drops, the first people with the coral are the ones that make money, understandably. I'll just find a local collector some day and buy it off them for a reasonable price. :)

BTW, I saw this coral in person and the colors are crazy. They do look exactly like purple hornets but instead of green they are orangish-yellow. And it may have been the lighting but the colors were POPPIN!

The store selling them is selling it on consignment it is the owner of the coral who put the price tag on it. I think everyone who saw it was really impressed with it but the price was a big turn off after awhile I'm sure the price will be lowered to meet what people will really pay.

Very nice morph!!! Whats funny to me is the same people complaining about the price are willing and wanting to drop 1500 an eye!!! ..Now thats driving prices up..But hey you guys seen this morph around before? Where at cause Im curious to see more of them, show me dont just type it....But hey he might just be trying to have the hobby pay for itself...LOL...You guys are too funny

 I never hopped on the Miami bandwagon chief, just an FYI.

He never post that he paid alot of money for the zoa he was only saying it was a rare zoa for him in first place

Like the Miami is rare for others

Then beacause an other person says it cost so much everybody started saying its a pricy piece

just like when I posted my PH Pics and growth everybody started saying it was fake cause someone comment that they were photoshop pics
witch never were and they are the real deal

All am saying if there is going to be a comment on a post thats going to talk of how much has to cost what ever coral. Its just better not posting cause it will ruin the other party benefit or coming goods from the sale

And these type of arguments are not healthy for this forum today could be an outsider tomarrow could be Jason, Tyree, Nanofins, or somebody else

I'm sorry noobreef, I wasn't meaning to specifically get on your case. I'm not saying this was directly your intention, but looking at your posts here, you just joined, and pretty much your first post was "advertising" this new zoa (nice or not doesn't matter), and posting a direct link to the sales page where it can be purchased for $700. You weren't just posting a picture of your zoas, in your tank; you posted "their" picture and a link to "their" sales page. Aside from one, your posts here have only been directly related to pushing this new zoa. Wouldn't be a stretch in this day and age for someone to do that to simply try and drum up sales. Not saying that your were performing shameless promotion, but it could have been taken that way easily. Not a lot of folks around here are big on the whole shameless self-promotion thing lately. I suppose promoting someone else is another thing, huh?

I certainly wouldn't want to make a new member feel like they're being chased off for posting a new zoa they got. I'm glad you like your purchase, and if you feel you got your money's worth, that's what matters I suppose. We'd all love to see a picture of your zoa once it has settled into your system I'm sure.

I just feel bad for you because you could have had that, or any number of nicer zoas, for considerably less. Hit me up some time, I can show you.

As Stray said, these have been coming in on occasion from the Kupang or Java "deepwater" imports, and this morph is not unheard of. No, I don't have a link to another site selling it right now, but you'll just have to trust me I've seen those. I'm not one to lie. I'm also not one to complain about spending some $$$ on a "worthwhile" zoa. I just dropped some serious cash to get the new yellow jacket paly, I was one of the first to get the LE Captain America Paly (having spent an obscene amount I suppose), and for the right piece I would be a nut again I guess. Grow your piece out, and when you have 20 polyps, that $90 won't seem so bad, so best of luck, and to each our own!

*sigh* This hobby is getting disappointing...

Don't let this get you down man. It's nothing new, and there will always be drama everywhere. There will always be shady car salesmen, scuzzy snake oil salesmen, and fake purple hornet sellers. Every venue has its less than stellar representatives. Doesn't change that you have access to a plethora of beautiful coral for your tank. Just enjoy that.
