d2mini's "Essential Focus" Mixed Reef Build

I forgot to introduce my new little Twin Spot Goby that I picked up last week. :)

In my thread of my aquarium you state
You and I must be cut from the same reefing cloth
- Thats seems to be true - this one is on my list too :)

By the way - your build is awesome

Sincerely Lasse

Thank you, Lasse!

Unfortunately, I just found this little guy stuck to my MP40 a couple days ago. :(
He "looked" perfectly healthy the day before, but who knows. I know this particular fish can be a bit finicky in captivity.

Yes - they are rather sensitive but friendly guys. I belive that hey need some open fine sand patches and peacefully tank mates.

Sincerely Lasse

Thanks, thomas! Come over any time.
I see you got a new toy, too. ;)
LOL,yeah, new job, new car! Got my last Mustang in 87 after my last new job. Plus I'm working across the freeway from FJW now. Not as close to you, but closer to home and things to do during lunch! Time to finally get started on my 120 upgrade.

A good friend and fellow R2R'er hooked me up with a starter coral pack this weekend!
Time to really test the waters so to speak. :)

Plus I moved a couple things from the office nano like this recent chalice frag from Unique Corals..

And this blue plate coral I've had for about 6 years now.

And my giant cup coral I've had for 5 years and is now 7-8" in diameter.
Might need to do some serious fragging.

And I picked up a brand new Trachyphyllia...

Dennis,
Great tank bro! I've followed your other builds and no doubt this one will be just as wonderful as the others.

I would like to get your thoughts on an idea. I am thinking of swapping out some rock from my 120g (been running for a bit over a year) and replacing it with some TB rock. You think this will harm any of the current residents? Do you think a few rounds of frequent water changes would hold of a mini cycle?
Best,
Chris

Thanks, Chris. :)
You should be fine. I think at the most you might see some diatoms and/or some elevated nitrates.
Ask for some of the bacteria powder. A boost in good bacteria should help keep that to a minimum.

Very apropos with Monster's Inc playing in the background.

EDIT: Apparently @bowen1022 is a faster typist.

That tank looks many years old already, are there corals in there or those all sponges ? There looks like there is a giant acro over on the right side...

OMG Twilight Light Zone, I thought your tank was replicating what was on the TV
LOL, extra points for being old enough to reference The Twilight Zone. :D

Sponges, gorgonians and corals. The corals are pictured a few posts up.

Dennis,

Have you performed any water change yet ? Also when are you planning to send water for ICP test and when is the triton dosing starting ?
Very interested to know your process ..

Regards,
Abhishek

Been doing a bunch of water changes because I got a batch of Tropic Marin with severely elevated magnesium. Mine has been over 1700.
But it takes forever to get it to drop with WC's so I'm probably just going to let it fall on its own now.
Haven't started dosing yet. Still need to calibrate my doser and mix up the Triton solutions. Will do it soon though.
Looks like my tank is using up around 0.2 dkh in 24 hrs. Need to test again tomorrow.
I'll do the first Triton Test once dosing is in full effect and stable.
