I greatly appreciate the help. When I shut down do I click the shutdown button in the Archon?

Yes you can. Just remove power after that and power it back up to restart.

Would you tell what the other options are to shut DPW the system. Like restart, reset, etc.?

I would use shutdown and power it off to restart. Restart would just restart without a power down. I have never tried any of the other options.

Haven't tried it yet. I'll give it a shot tomorrow morning and report what happens from there. Thanks again for your guidance.

Danny, performed the shutdown this morning. Pulled the power and bus connections from the Archon, then powered just the Archon. The home screen came back on and showed the inputs connected to it. Plugged in the bus cable and all the remaining Outputs showed up so I am back in business. I pulled the USB drive and plugged it into a computer. Windows said there were 5 errors and proceeded to fix them. While I had the drive pulled I backed up the files on my computer. So for now all is well.

As for the SL2 is it a fair assumption t0 think the bus cable I used was defective and should I try another cable? I believe Eric revised some of the programming on the module so maybe I should wait for his input on what caused the SL2 to crash my system. Let me know what you think.

And many thanks for walking me through getting this back on line.

Thank you.

I would at least hook the SL2 up to the SID and make sure it reconizes it as a module. Try in both buss ports. That will at least let you know the module is not dead before attaching it to the live buss. As you say you may want to wait for his input before connecting it back up since you are up and running without it.

I foolishly sold the SID figuring with the Archon I don't need it anymore. Not too bright. I guess I'll wait for Eric to reply. Thanks again.

Dude, you can catch them on flea bay sometimes for a twenty. [emoji6]

I've kept the RKE I was using because it never gave me any major issues that were not user created. Just sayin.

Yeah I hear you. I was doing well with the Archon and didn't need the SID for a long time.

You still may not need it. The Archon does not come with one. There is very little need to change the module firmware. Most changes can be done via the Archon software. It would have been a nice way to check the module out before hooking it back to the Archon, but not a must.

You have a backup copy on your computer and know how to get it up and running again. It did not seem to cause any hardware damage. It up to you, but I would be ready to pull the buss quickly if you do.

Well I took a leap of faith and tried to connect the SL2 using a different bus cable. I plugged it into the Archon bus port and the same thing happened as before except after the system shut down, the module lights flashed, it came back up and I had solid blue lights at all modules. I was able to calibrate the salinity probe and connected a low sump float switch to the module without incident.

I'm curious if this is how all modules connect to the Archon. Users with more experience will have to weigh in. Eric told me before he shipped back the SL2 that the new salinity probes have built in temperature adjustments and that you don't need to use the temp probe with the module. I'm curious as to whether or not there are any detrimental effects to connecting the temp probe to the module if the preceding is true. I don't have the temp probe connected but will wait for others opinions and for Eric, if he sees this thread, to advise.

Once again thanks to all who came to my aid. This is a great place for sharing information and getting assistance in getting over problems that arise with this hobby.
