I participated in the World Wide Corals live sale last weekend and bought a 9 for $99 random frag pack. I just got all my corals today and quite a few were mislabeled (not worried about it I know what I bought no big deal) but one had this sticker on it with no labeling anyone have an idea what it is?

It’s kinda hard to tell but I’m guessing it’s a zoa since they’re known to be toxic

Looks kinda like a slightly closed zoa? They do release palytoxin when bothered so be careful with that... eye and skin protection when fragging and such. I have several. Personally I think that if a 16 year old has managed this many without dying they can’t possibly be that dangerous. Just don’t boil them or anything like that

It looks like a Captain America Palythoa which is a soft coral. Many of these Palythoas and Zoanthids carry a toxic and potent Palytoxin than can cause vasoconstriction and other more severe issues including death.
i don’t want to scare you but it is in your best interest to read about Palytoxin to inform and be proactive.
Zoanthids are beautiful corals that can add awesome color and diversity to a reef tank. Just know the facts , be aware but enjoy. There is NO reason not to add these to your tank. Yes, there comes a risk with having them, however, there are risks with having a dog, reptile, chain saw or pool As well.
good luck...

Thanks for the reply I don’t think it’s zoas tho it looks a little big I have quite a few in the tank and have never got any with a warning sticker

I’ve never bought zoas online before so idk about the sticker thing but I don’t know any other ‘dangerous’ corals. Might be a palythoa? Those can be quite a bit bigger than zoas

If I had to guess, its a closed up paly. Asking WWC would be your best bet to get confirmation though

Thanks everyone for the input. I’m going to assume it’s a palythoa since that’s what everyone is saying. I’ll see what it looks like tomorrow afternoon after the lights have been on for a while.

I personally haven't seen any anemones glued to a frag plug, that's the only reason I disagree with the anemone thought. Could be though who knows

is it glued? from pic looks like foot of nem ;) has it moved at all?
