I will as soon as I get all the cable management done its a frightful mess of black spaghetti currently...sump is a work in progress for sure

I should have stated the stand is full acrylic so won't rot or rust and is lined with a leak pan it was custom made By Aquatica in Valley City Ohio

Looks like a great start! Welcome to R2R!

Week #1 update:

99% sure BRS shipped the Dr.Tims I was using for cycling during the mega cold snap we had in Ohio and quite possibly froze. BRS should have some warning that you're ticking 52.00 away if you order when it's super cold...end of rant.

ordered 2 bottles od BIO-Spyra from amazon..added one in case I was wrong about the Dr. Tims in 24 hours went from 2.0 ammonia to .8 in 24 hours and from .8 to .4 in 24 hours almost the same results for the next 24 hours so I now assume the Tims was bad and added the other bottle of Bio-Spyra I ordered...will evaluate again tomorrow

made what might be a rookie mistake or just my luck...ATO was low so I added water and filled it...did not notice that outlet hose on the ATO was lower than the max fill height of the ATO tank so the first call for water after I left the house created a siphon and pulled enough extra water into the return to set the high limit float switch on the Tunze. Needless to say, my wife called me about the beeping coming from the fish tank...and I had to return home.

next rookie mistake...kept trying to dip the red probe of the apex into the salinity test pouch for calibration...it would not calibrate...I'm 52 I forget occasionally the black is salinity..thanks google. No problems calibrating after that.

On a positive, my chaeto is growing nicely in my fuge and with all the ammonia dosing and the partial bacteria culturing my nitrates are very low I assume it's pushing the chaeto along and working together.

Still, need to get the cable management done this next week along with setting up the dos pumps for the triton core 7 ...I have enjoyed using the Apex on my Ipad while I enjoy my coffee in the morning. The hobby has come so far from hang on the back skilters and coralux fluorescent lights and maybe having one animal in your reef that was over a year old.

will add a picture of the super sloppy refugium in the morning...peace, love, and reefing

as promised some pix...taken this AM will be adding some fish this weekend and will update for week#2 next weds..sump area still waiting on cable management

Week #3 update:

Started to see some brown algae in the refugium and a bit in the main tank. Added a small CUC of 5 small hermits, 2 trochus, 2 turbo, 1 fighting conch, and 2 nassa..will pull a couple of these and send to the refugium so they have plenty to eat and do not die off..everything I read said the huge packs of cuc critters are the biggest waste of money and become a nightmare when they die of starvation so went very light on the critters.

Added 2x clowns and a coral beauty dwarf angel. They are eating great on Marine Cuisine and started introducing some small pellets ..clowns do great on pellets angel does not come to the top to feed so will have to continue frozen for him daily

Still, a mess of black spaghetti in my sump I need to label all terminations so I do not get the pump and the heater in the wrong outlets on the brick again. Cable management still not done very overwhelmed with it.

Will wait till I see green hair algae to add kole eye tang and fox face and possibly a yellow tang, not 100% sure on this combo.

Weekly Update Wednesday #4

Not much change this week. Went to a new LFS and fell in love with a small rbta. She is very shy and hides under a piece of aquascape and seems to like it there....Im not a fan of the location and long term she won't fit there but I assume that will become obvious to her down the road. YES I know they split by fission and are not sexual but my wife named her Emmy D Anemone so were sticking with that ..spousal support on a hobby is valuable.

At the same LFS I was admiring what must be a 20-year-old stack of red monti cap and the owner gave me a couple shards of the monti. I have high flow and was planning on some sps but had not started to even think about adding corals. Used some epoxy putty to attach one of the frags and broke about 10% of it off the side because I pressed too hard...hoping for the best here but may have given it a death sentence not sure seems to be bleaching on the opposite side of the fracture.

Still have not felt like doing the cable management but it is weighing heavy on my mind so I will guilt myself into it soon.

Weekly Wednesday Update #5

Starting to see some brown diatom bubble action on the very top of my rock arch I assume it's above the heavy flow so may move my gyres to a higher horizontal position instead of verticle corner to corner.
RBTA found her spot and is doing very well feeding Marine Cuisine 2x times per week
Clowns are getting fat and happy and waddling around to great me in hopes of food every time they see me.
Coral beauty doing fine eating well and picking pieces of chaeto that make it up there out of the rocks
The monti cap that I thought I killed is doing great and adding growth even the small piece that broke off is growing so this makes me happy

I have an appointment to visit Than @ Tidal Gardens tomorrow which, is only about 12 minutes from me so from here on out I can single source my corals from a reputable trusted source..not sure I will be able to sleep tonight I feel like its Christmas Eve and I'm about 8 years old when I think of going there...interesting fact I watched about 50 of his youtube vids before I realized he is very close to me..so its like meeting a mentor in a way.

Still need a bottom sand sifter, Yelloweye Kole tang, and a Fox face to finish out my livestock..possibly a couple of wrasses but I want to keep my bioload as low as possible while still making the tank pleasing to my guests and fam...grandkids love the clowns

Cable management even worse now after adding 2x Neptune dos pumps and all the hoses for the core7 Triton which I have been dosing @ 10ml a day but now automated;

Cheers and happy reefing

Cable management sucks, but it's worth it in the end. My frag tank is a mess and I keep saying the same thing, I'll get to it. Tank is looking good and welcome to r2r.

One of my 7 adult children is an IT guy who is great with cable management and is actually working for me to get his internship done so he can graduate..I am hoping now that everything is the way I want it in the sump cabinet that i can cheat a little and send him to the house on a Friday and have him do it..Im old my knees hate kneeling on tile for hours..

A day late so Thursday update this week (week #6)

Diatoms won't go away 2 weeks in and no sign of silicates being all eaten...run the float magnet on the glass and change the filter sock regularly

The coral beauty died this week I suspect that I was not feeding enough greens or a parasite

Cable management done sump area looks much better but DT looks like crap because of the diatoms

pretty depressing reef week

have pretty much lost faith in the local LFS scene mostly liars and people selling sick fish... down to one I trust for fish and one for corals
