My leather coral never collapsed like this. What happened? Did it go so quickly? Looked fine this morning!

I would wait and see if it deteriorates first. Looks like it’s still intact and maybe just upset by something. Have you checked water parameters like Ca, Alk, salinity, temp?

Have any contaminants potentiality entered the water? If nothings changed this is normal behavior of leathers before they shed

Leathers have no skeletal structure, if it's dieing it will start deteriorating, it will look like it's smoking and melt to nothing. This is not dead maybe shedding.

Assure its getting moderate light and water flow and a little iron does not hurt.

Rust? Was using this coated magnet to secure a net on tank. Maybe this got it upset? Water tests are all ok. Will do water change.

Looks like the rust might have done it. But other corals seem fine.

Looks a little better as lights are coming on this morning. Doing 10% water change. Will see how it goes. Had for 5 years and never seen it go this flat!
If it was the rust would it show on any water tests?

How long has it been in that spot? It looks like it could use some light flow around it’s base. I think I’d have a positive outlook for a rebound right now but still keep a close eye out for infection or brown jelly setting in.

Did water change, cleaned prefilter, powerheads HOB skimmer in/outtake
all water tests ok. Looks the same. Should I move it ? Don’t have many options on where to move! Covering up scolymia and acan.

Not convinced is rust unless this in the tank for weeks/months.
They will lie down when Alk is very high or unstable.
Run some Carbon if not already doing so
Buts it’s not dead at all, just uncomfortable.
If light has not changed, water is good, leave him.

Still worried about what the leather is doing. ALK is 7.71 and all else is good.
Just worried that it could be dying! Would it effect my water and other livestoc?
