So I was out of town for two weeks in Wisconsin and Chicago. I was watching the storm named Debbie on the weather channel everyday and watched as it tore apart my neighborhood. I was smart and planned ahead and taught my cat sitter how to check on my tanks and what to look for if they are in trouble. So I was kind of worried about the systems but thought hey, dont worry the cat sitter is there ( yeah right ) well to my horrible surprise when I got home all three of my systems were off and my 120 was at 97 and half of my stuff was dead or melted, on my 29 my neon green LTA died and all the inhabitants of the tank except 3 chromis were dead, But since then they have also died. My 46 seems to be doing ok my tang died and my RBTA is not looking to well. My 120 and 29 have fully crashed and I have been working on bringing them back for the last two days, I got home on tuesday. I mixed and did a 40% change on both and Just did a 20% change on my 46 I am doing another change on all three systems as soon as I can water is mixing now. All of my systems have Ammonia,Nitrite, in them My ph is low but I want it to stay that way till the Ammonia is gone. My ALK has crashed in all three to below 7dkh I am slowly bringing them back up. So in total I have lost around 9,000 worth of corals and fish it is theses type of things that make people get out of this hobby, but I love this stuff and have been doing it right for a few years now so all I can do is re-build. I since have fired my cat sitter and did not pay her since she did not do her job and has caused me a lot of grief. I have remedied the problem and bought three backups from Ecotech in hopes of avoiding this situation again. So long story short if you live in a area that has bad storms and power outages happen plan ahead and have backup power some how to avoid going through what I just have. Steve
