Debbie's aftermath !!!

Man I am sorry to hear about that. It's really horrible to loose all your stuff. One question however, did your cat survive? I ask because eventhough you taught your cat sitter what to look for in the tanks, she/he is not a tank sitter and as bad as I feel for your tanks and as mad as I would be if it happened to me I do feel she/he was there to watch over the cat and if the cat is fine then they did there job and should be paid. Not saying this to upset you it's just my opinion.

Yeah the cats survived thank god my girlfriend wold of freaked she was is San Fran for the time. But yeah i was paying her extra to watch the tanks and check my ATO and feed them she told me she came every day but when I looked back at my security cameras she did not come for two days, so if she would of came like she said she was to watch and check my tanks this whole thing would of been avoided.

ouch that would have rubbed me the wrong way if i found that out

Just a update the tanks are coming around did another change today on all three only a 10% on all of them I raised my ALK and my ph is back to 8.4 roughly on all three, no ammonia, nitrite so I think I am ready to start stocking again. I think I should give it a week or so though either way I am back on track.

Good to hear that things are back on track 1smile1 I would probably give it a week or so myself just to make sure that things are stablized before starting to add things to the tank.

Now if I just had some beer cheese soup and brats i would be in heaven.lol Will do on the pics as soon as it comes around I am getting some weird blue almost feather like algae on the back glass will post pic in a min.

Wil do BarbH. Hows your tanks coming along?

Coming along good, still mulling over some different options about adding on a sump. Waiting for the boyfriend to take the remaining two angels that I have in my 20g from my previous fw setup. Once that tank is free I am going to see if I can get the 20 to fit under the stand. If it does I will start my plans on building my sump. What I am really excited about is that at the end of August beginning of Sept I will be able to upgrade my lighting, and then I can start getting corals for my tank.

Nice congrats! What type of lights are you going for? And the sump is for sure the way to go. You have in mind what type of corals you will be trying to keep? Are you running just a sump or plan on a fuge?

I am planning on going with LEDs, have been checking out what is available although still have more research to do. For corals I am planning on a mix of softies and lps, maybe an easier sps (will see). For the sump I am thinking towards a sump/refugium combo although the refuge will not be large enough to do much for water quality from what I have read. But my main goal on the refuge is to have a place for pod reproduction since one of my long term goals with the tank is to have it ready and able to sustain a Mandarian.

How's the tank doing? I still have some frags and a rbta if you want them.

Just a update I do believe my systems are ready to have corals added to them again and thank you to all the people who have gave advice and helped me through the worst time I have had in 4 + years of keeping reef tanks. Now if I can just get my girlfriends outlook on the situation to change.

Side note I could only imagine how Mike & terry felt when they came home to there disaster but with determination they had a awesome rebuild and have even started another.

Oh thats terrible!!! So sorry. We have power outages here too. Going to put a back up generator on the house and have 2 portable ones just in case.

Yeah I was thinking of the same thing but opted out for three ecobak systems from ecotech so I can avert it. But I think I might still go get a generator since it is Florida and if we get hit hard with a hurricane we will be out of power for up to two weeks so I think I am still going to have to get a generator, but the ecobak systems are good for quite a while after the power goes out. Either way I plan on not having this happen again.

I stand corrected and understand now.

Just a update tanks are back to par after two and a half weeks but they are back to normal. Went to LFS today and picked up some simple fish for re-introduction 20 blue green chromis and two pajama cardinals. And got a really nice package yesterday consisting of 1p RDPE 1P of god of war, 1p of daisy duke, 3p of shazzam, 6eye bleeding orange chalice, and 1p of CG Full spectrum. I also have 3eye of my miami, 2 eye og corn bread. They are in my 46 waiting to go into my 120 so I think I am ready to start adding now. Thanks everybody
