Okay, it's December so I can post on this thread again
We chose Saturday, December 14 but we need to decide on a time that works for everyone. Please provide input since Richard and I are able to make most any time work.
Also, input on the menu is needed. So far we have suggested/offered to bring:
Sausage balls - Chris
Potato candy - Chris
Alcohol free egg nog - Trish
Chocolate cake - Trish
Pigs in a blanket - Trish
Desert of some type - Tomoko
I think most people liked the idea of the Dirty Santa game so I will suggest some basic rules. Each person that wants to participate needs to bring a gift with a minimum value of $10 (this amount is open for discussion of course). The gift should be wrapped or gift bagged.
We normally play by these house rules:
Each player draws a number and the person drawing the number one goes first by picking a gift and opening it
All opened gifts are to remain visible so others players can see all the items available for stealing
The player with the number two can either take the gift that player one opened or choose a wrapped gift. This play continues with the next number.
If your gift is "stolen" you can either choose to steal from somone who has already opened a gift or unwrap a new gift. You can NOT steal back the gift that was just stolen from you
No item can be "stolen" more than three times - having a limit on the amount of stealing allowed keeps the game from lasting forever
The person drawing the highest number goes last and basically gets the final (and best) pick.
The game is not a white elephant game where you unload junk from home - if you don't think someone would be happy to get the item, please choose something else. Of course...Frags ain't junk!
This game is always a lot of fun so I encourage everyone to plan to participate. I mentioned not bringing white elephant gifts because some people confuse the two games and nobody wants to get stuck taking home an old phone book when they brought a decent gift.
On another note I followed up with Larry at ReefFrenzy yesterday and the food samples should arrive tomorrow.
