It's been 2 days. I'm not good at being patient for it to clear lol. Would adding liverock speed it up and clear faster?

I have a mag7 running and not sure the size of the korilla fan up top but also have a small one in the sump

Right now only thing in the tank is sand and water. As soon as the water cleared I was going to do the rock but looks like I may not be able to wait.

Are you running filter socks or anything? If not, the sand particles don't particularly have anywhere to go and will stay in the water column. Run a low-micron sock (1m) and it should clear that up. Stuff it with filter floss and possibly use a bit of a flocculent and it'll work even better.

Ok thanks will try that. I had carbon in it but it did nothing so took it out. I've never used a filter sock before. Where do I find them?

You might even have luck just shutting off the pumps for a few hours or so to allow whatever it is to settle.

It's also a shallow tank with very wide-flow power heads running, so if your sand is too fine this may be a bigger issue. Tunze nanostreams have a more narrow flow pattern (among other differences) that should be more "compatible" if you find this to be the problem.

Bacterial blooms aren't too uncommon at this stage and look pretty similar to the last photo too. FWIW. :)

A bacterial bloom would happen while mixing fresh saltwater? My sand is fine but my water was milky when mixed it. It was an older bag of salt but mixed fine when I mixed it slow last time. This time I dumped all that was in the bag into the to water and it clouded instantly and never unclouded.

If patience is still not an option ;) I would try shutting down the pumps - maybe even the return - and see if it settles out.

You'd have to tell me yea or nay on the bloom cuz u are there, but the photos look a lot like one so it's at least a possibility as I see it. :)

If you're running the lights, try keeping them off most of the time.

Good news to report. Went to walmart and bought some cheapo pantyhose and felt fabric squares. Sewed them up and put them inside the pantyhose and on the drain and it's cleared up nicely. Will get pics when I get home from work

I would be more concerned about the water level in the sump,if the power goes out you will have a flood

No flooding. I filled the main tank first then when it starts overflowing into the sump I fill the sump on. When everything is up and running I put a mark on the sump where the pump is so I know where to keep the water level. Even is power goes out it's impossible to overflow.
