That scape is going to look mighty nice with corals in there. Looking forward to the rest of the build. Following along.

This is my favorite part of a build. You spend so much time and money planning the build. You imagine how this one will be so much better than the last one. You get your scape in and start envisioning the corals growing in it. Fish lists are created and modified. Then WATER! No turning back once it's wet. The system is alive and the possibilities are endless. Congratulations! I'm loozing for ward to seeing it develop.

Yeah man I have the brick in my sump and run a BB tank. It takes a good while for the denitrifying bacteria to establish in the anoxic zone deep inside the brick. I have mine standing vertically w/ about 25 lbs of live rock next to it. I'm going to put that live rock in a display refugium and lay the brick flat, hoping to create more low flow zones. I have my brick elevated on 4 1/4" pieces of 1 inch PVC to prevent detritus build up at the bottom.

Gonna try this due to no sand or mud...

And this to start...

Oh yeah, because you don't have a place for the bacteria to be without the sand. Would that be a problem with cycling or ammonia spikes do you think? I would be really careful about adding few fish at a time since you might not have a large amount of bacteria as others would which could cause a tiny cycle. - I am no expert, but based this in previous knowledge.

So... upgraded from a DC6000 to a DC9000....

hmmmmmmm. does that .25 matter?!?!?!?;):p

Side note...
My now mated pair of gold flake maroons in my cube...

Question.. why did you need to upgrade from the 6000 to the 9000 pump.
Just asking because i am getting ready to built the same 90gal tank. Did you loose the head pressure on the pump because you used a larger 1.25 pipe in place of a 1" or a 3/4"?
