Deepwater SPS only Show!

i love simplex acroporas. simplex sounds like a cool graffitti name even though I'm not a tagger. nothing crazy like the ones posted here but has nice color. Not sure if its a lokani.

thanks swordfight. I like it too. the blue shines in person. I wanna say its a lokani but the tips are flat similar to a tort. wish it grew faster so I could id this one but this is almost 1 years growth.

Wow, did you guys get those as wild colonies or were they already purchased that way?
Some amazing colors, deepwater I heard were difficult to keep due to their low lighting request, hence the name.
Not true at all. While some can be a bit sensitive, most "deepwaters" are relatively hardy and can be blasted with the light.

The term "deepwater" is pretty generic, and pretty much just describes an Acropora that exhibits a smooth texture to the tissue and generally they have nowhere near as many radial coralites as most Acros.

This one is a true simplex. the purple flat stick you have isnt.
lol, its absolutely impossible to tell if that is a true simplex, the thing is just a frag hahaha. Where do you come up with this stuff?

What's your ID on his "purple flat stick"?

What makes you think this? and what is a true simplex? I have many different types of deep waters, most of them are in the same family of simplex. This is just a frag and is very hard to tell what it will become, I really don't think it looks anything like a simplex..I bought this piece at the beginning of a coral show and let it sit in the vendors tankl all day, I had ton's of well known reefers ask about it and not one of person referred to it as a simplex. I just would really like to know why you think it is....

Here's something from Kraylen ages ago that stuck with me. Never been able to find anything that verified this, but...
It actually comes from the term "Depawta," latin... meaning "perfect surface." When people started to use this term overseas, the translation was lost in an instant... it was no time before people started saying "Deepwater" forever changing the tag. Kind of ironic that this world would be a hobby such as this.. where corals actually come from different depths of the ocean. It was a legit marketing definition before, now in the states it is just a marketing scam.. *cough*

Reefer831~If you shoot me a pm with your email, I can send you some pics including one that looks identical to that in color and structure. I dont want to post these pics on this thread. The flat one is most likely either a pichoni or tenella. feel free to prove me wrong as I have been wrong at id's many times before.

I'd still like to know how you are able to deduce that reefer831's frag is a "true" simplex? It's just a frag......

Any where you want Vic....if you want a single branch cut it there....if you want more than one cut lower and get multiple branches....dont see how its much different than any other?

Unless Im not understanding your question?

Myzislow~ Yours looks very different from the one caddisfly posted. His looks like the simplex from verons to me. If yours is the same as his it's a very nice morph of it. Looks like that sunset is getting dangerously close.
