Not true at all. While some can be a bit sensitive, most "deepwaters" are relatively hardy and can be blasted with the light.Wow, did you guys get those as wild colonies or were they already purchased that way?
Some amazing colors, deepwater I heard were difficult to keep due to their low lighting request, hence the name.
This one is a true simplex. the purple flat stick you have isnt.I think this one is going to be crazy.....

Here's something from Kraylen ages ago that stuck with me. Never been able to find anything that verified this, but...Not true at all. While some can be a bit sensitive, most "deepwaters" are relatively hardy and can be blasted with the light.
The term "deepwater" is pretty generic, and pretty much just describes an Acropora that exhibits a smooth texture to the tissue and generally they have nowhere near as many radial coralites as most Acros.
It actually comes from the term "Depawta," latin... meaning "perfect surface." When people started to use this term overseas, the translation was lost in an instant... it was no time before people started saying "Deepwater" forever changing the tag. Kind of ironic that this world would be a hobby such as this.. where corals actually come from different depths of the ocean. It was a legit marketing definition before, now in the states it is just a marketing scam.. *cough*
a little lighter in color
