Denis' 150 gallon Build

I'm not expecting the CUC to be a solution rather it just be good to have for uneaten food and what not. Im sure my rock is leaching phosphate and will take heavy water changes and maybe even some god. The rock was never cured outside of this tank.

However I thought this snail was quite the explorer! o_O

Current sump area.

I must say... I really like the skimz up34 sump but I think it's better suited for a smaller tank. Originally I wasn't going to get a 150 gallon so I thought the designated ato compartment would be great. But I go through 5 gallons of top off every 4 to 5 days so the 2.4 gallon volume wasn't going to cut it.

So for anyone wanting to get a skimz sump, I would say it's a great sump other than the small ato volume.

Great set up, loving the aquascape and lighting seems pretty decent and very clean combo. what T5 combo are you using and what intensity. (I have 6x24w ATI dimmable unit so these things I'm super keen to know...lol )

Thank you!! I appreciate the kind words. Currently the bulbs I'm running are all ati bulbs.

2x aquablue specials
4x blue plus
1x true actinic
1x purple plus

Ps not that order though however I would have to check the order if you would like?

6 bulbs start running at 12:00pm till 6:00pm and the other 2 start at 3:00pm to 9:30pm all at 100% but the unit is hanging around 12 inches above the water.

I feel like the growth could be great however I just ordered another blue plus to switch one of the aquablue specials to see if I like that better (seems a little too white to me). My goal is good growth but color is also important to me as well.

I must say I've been debating on getting a new skimmer throughout this build since this one has got some age to it. I bought it originally because I wanted something temporary before going and spending a ton of money on a Bubble king or deltec. It also would free up space in the sump. But I must say I'm extremely happy with the performance of reef octopus 200XS diablo. Really easy to dial and not too loud. So if it ain't broken and it's doing its job... looks like it'll be staying right here in the sump.

15 gallon water change on its way. Getting the water to the right temperature.

Yesterday's iPhone pictures I took of the frags. Really happy with the colors/growth of the Zoas.

-Sunny d went from 2 to 5 polyps
-god of war went from 2 to 4 polyps

Also brought a couple birdsnest frags since they broke while I was working on the other tank.

Finished doing the 15 gallon water change and cleaned out the collection cup b/c I felt like it was time ;). During the water change, I decided to set up my 20 gallon quarantine with water from the water change.

Looking at the frag of the captain America paly. I think I have some bryopsis on the frag and it looks like it's on some of the rock and sandbed :eek:

I will most likely be removing the frags affected and scrubbing them lightly with a toothbrush and a solution of hydrogen peroxide. Not ideal but I'm not one who who quarantines corals for 72 days.

You forgot to put the seatbelt on the snails!:D

I was wondering if anyone would say something about it. I guess it's b/c they were safely in a box. Haha

Hahaha, safety first. Saving up for the same set up, but 120, don't have room for 150.Thanks for the motivation.

Haha your welcome. Those were the two tanks I was going back and fourth about, but thought why not go big. Only thing is if I decide to add a frag tank it'll be blocking a window which sucks and I doubt the wife will be happy about it.

Meanwhile... the clowns are happy and getting along.

Decided to order some fluconazole to treat the bryopsis I have in the display before it gets out of control. I will show the treatment progress once it comes in.

Since I had some time today I decided to clean a couple frags of bryopsis since it was going to take a couple days for the fluconazole to come in. I decided to clean the frags with some hydrogen peroxide. It went pretty well as I have done this in the past and I do a mixture of 2 to 1 tank water to peroxide ratio for about 30sec with very light scrubbing. Currently the Zoas are upset but I would give it a day or so before they open back up.
