This seems to be a recent trend on RC. Does this bother anyone else? I mean seriously, how hard is it to go on zoaid and look up what you have?

Its the seller's name that sell the coral IMO

Wow I called him out on that and just saw everyone jumping on my back about it.. I am gonna go post on there now.. I dont care who this guy is, bottom line.

So the difference between the two is the area around the mouth? DA having no color while the ARM has the pink/orange color? If that is the case, then I would say his are DAs.

I'm not sure I agree with this...

So you're saying if person A buys a coral that was sold to them as coral A
Over time, the frags of coral A gets morphed in various tanks for whatever reason and some time later person B decides to rename one of the morph's as coral B so he can sell them for more or claim he/she is the first person to own it...

...that person A then has to check zoaID to see if his partially morphed zoa has been renamed as a new item so he can label them more accurately?

I know we all love zoas and all but that's a bit much.

when you think about it it seems easy but now that you spelled it out it is a bit much.

I think it is rude to be so accusiatory and a-matter-of-fact. Its one thing to post your opinion and state it as such, but to write is as fact it wrong. I got into a big argument with Mig-hell about that and I believe that everyone has a right to an opinion, but thay have to remember that is is their opinion not necessarily fact. Whether or not they are Arm, is not my point nor is it my concern. Just be polite and considerate of other people.

It might be a bit much, but I for one would want to know that I was getting the real deal.

I would want to get the real deal too but who's to say what it is real and what isnt? DNA?

I would at least ask for a picture with flash or under different lighting.

I find it hard to believe that those devil armors ever looked or morphed from true Armageddens. Patedship I posted a pic to back you up over there.

This whole "name game" bs is getting really old - and frankly killing the hobby. names cause price gouging - and price gouging makes it difficult for people to afford to have a nice tank. Not to mention hurting the profits of a local LFS. Now I'd be wrong to say that I haven't bought from a "propagator" in the past. But I certianly didn't pay top dollar for my pieces either. The people I have delt with have integrity.

It comes down to this (IMO)...

...IF YOU LIKE IT! BUY IT! Who cares what the He** its called. 99% of the people that see my tank have no idea what a PPE or a Tubbs Blue looks like, or could care less of its rarity and how much I paid for it. In fact, they care more about the dang crabs and snails than anything.

The only people who care about names are those that want to make a buck. The catchier the name, the more they can get from you - and they do - I've seen it here dozens of times.

If this guy on RC wants to make a buck by calling his armageddons go for it - if you want to buy - go for it - but you can't blame him for jacking the prices if people are willing to pay.

Last time I check - the was no Beckett Guide to buying and pricing corals

Nope but if you get a mint condition Mustang shelby for 100 grand of the internet and when it gets delivered you find out it is a Kit car that looks very similar to a Mustang Shelby you might change your opinion. This guy is charging $300 for the pack with a couple polyps of each not $30 so he better know what he has got when asking that kind of money. I am not flamming your opinion and completely understand where you are comming from Kurb.

haha a mustang shelby cobra is a mustang shelby cobra no if ands or buts about it-a devils armor or whatever you like to call it is a paly, that paly is not a manufactured item like a car out of a factory- so stop treating them like they are-i really cant stand this whole naming thing, it was great when it was for fun, but now its just out of control and one of the lamest things I have ever seen happen to this hobby-you could file a lawsuit against someone that scams you on a shelby mustang...
