Music isn't dead. Heartless, maybe, but not dead.
My older sister figured out as a teenager that IF she brought her little brother along, she was much more likely to be able to go to concerts. So... from about 1983, I started going to concerts. Divorced family, Mom was in KC, Dad was in LA, we split our time between them.
I saw Henry Rollins front Black Flag at an Elk's lodge in Stockton CA , would have been 1984... man, that was some show. Probably ruined me for other kinds of music. I was 14. Still the best show I've ever seen.
Sis really liked the girl groups... The Runaways were over by then, but saw Joan Jett (many times), The GoGo's, the Bangles, Linda Ronstadt, Heart...
Got to see Queen, Kansas, Journey, Floyd, Rush, ZZTop, Fleetwood Mac, ELO... many others. Lots of big names, but I always kept running back to Punk... The Ramones, Dead Kennedys, Misfits, Heck I've even been to several Green Day shows over the last decade. I'll always be a punk at heart.
