So i've been posting on here but still don't know where to go. My tank is only 2 months old. It cycled around a month ago, but then had a bryopsis outbreak (likely from really old live rock I used). I treated it with fluconazole, but now I'm experiencing what I'm 90% sure is dino. It has small bubbles on the rocks coming up from very small green threads and the sandbed is terrible. Maybe it could just be a normal outbreak as I'm likely in the ugly phase, but knowing my bad luck at this first reefing experience, I'm worried of it being dino. I filtered it through a paper towel and it reconstituted into green threads a short while later. I've been told I could use Dino X to treat it, since I have no livestock other than a few snails (and my nassarius snails have been dying, which also leads me to believe it's dino). Should I keep waiting it out, or should I be more aggressive with it? I've read up on many options including using kalkwasser to increase pH and using peroxide, but I don't know what's best since I'm still new to reefing. I hate that I've been experiencing some of the worst algaes at the start, but I'm learning of ways to deal with this which at least will hopefully help me out if I keep on reefing rather than just giving up. Any advice?

My levels are also reading at 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 0.1 nitrate, 0 phos, 8.15 pH

What's the best way to raise? I added in some more aquavitro seed and vacuumed some of it off the sandbed but it comes back. I have no protein skimmer running and am changing out my filter floss daily as it gets dirty crazy fast

I installed fresh chemipure blue and matrix but that's all I have for my filtration right now other than a small refugium housing my chaeto

Hold on to the Dino x, that would be my last resort. First you need to bring your nitrates to around 10ppm and phosphates to 0.10 and feed bacteria. That and manual removal of the dinos is your best bet.

I actually bought neophos and neonitro to start SLOWLY adding it to the tank and test daily.

Here's some pics that show the green parts on the sand bed and the bubbling I'm seeing appearing on the rock

I'll look into getting something like that to raise my nitrates. Can you tell from my new photos if it's actually dino or just regular uglies? That's what I'm confused about because I'm getting conflicting answers

as they said above, raise the nutrients up, having them at zero will cause an outbreak. it might be time to add some livestock in the tank and feed them to help with the nutrient issue. when I add new livestock I will add the aquavitro seed to help with the biofilter offset. I would recommend a UV to help with the dinos. I had a bad algae issue and fought it with a flucRx and vibrant combo and it killed it off but dinos appeared. I bought a used green killing machine UV (9watt for a 29g) I paid $20 for it and it has been working well! but I did cut back on feeding because I didn't want the algae to come back, but I think I just need to increase a little to bring the nutrients up.
zero no3 and po4 will bring dinos and some uglies to the tank.

hope this helps buddy!

Thanks. Yeah I used reef flux to tackle my bryopsis problem and this started right after that. I'll see if I can get a fish to add, i just dont have any quarantined right now

So the bubbling thing is normal uglies? I dont need to go crazy with any treatments? Should I lower my lighting more or do a blackout for a few days?

30 gal. It's the nuvo 30l tank. The sand isnt going rusty but it's going like dark yellowish and theres brown slime stuff coating the glass that I've wiped off with my algae magnet

I suggest you get a UV sterelizer, check out the AA green killing machine from amazon its cheap and it would help keep the dinos at bay at night when they go into the water column. I also suggest removing as much dinos as possible through a 1 micron filter sock back into the tank. DO not do any water changes and try to keep everything as stable as possible, i also suggest changing your lights to a more blue.

Yes, bubbling can be normal. Look up bubble algae. Likely you have a few kinds of algae in your tank. As long as your tank is fully cycled, add some livestock as others suggested. The livestock will raise your nitrate and phosphate naturally and on their own. You just have to ride out the ugly phase

My lights are at 60% blue and 8% white right now pretty much. I only did a big water change recently because I had to to get the reef flux fluconazole out after not having done a water change in 3 weeks. I could get a fish but I'm scared of just putting one in since I'm seeing snails die and dont even know if my lfs properly quarantines their livestock. Was hoping to try and quarantine some on my own. Also if I get a iv sterilizer, how often would I run it?

I agree with the others that is not dino's It looks like cyano to me.

Looks like a new tank going through normal cycle.

For me the green cyano is the first I see.

You start adding nutrients now you will just fuel that cyano.

Cynao is one of the first things to colonize bare surfaces and will die back as other things colonize the surface.
You can help by adding other bacteria to help compete.

Adding phosphate at this point and it might bind with the sand and rock causing issues later too..

People freak out over a little cyano but it is part of the biodiversity that helps prevent dinos.

A little cyano in my opinion is good and normal.
