You have to attack it from different angles. I just killed mine off doing the following:
3 day blackout, tank totally covered.
During blackout, each day dose microbacter 7, keep skimmer off 4 hours then turn back on. Dose dino x every 2 days, leave skimmer on.
After blackout, do not run you white lights, blue lights max of 10 hours. Keep dosing dino x every 2 days. Now dose 1/3 dose of Dr. Tims waste away every day to consume dead dinoflagellates. Turn skimmer off for 4 hours when dosing Dr. Tims.

Those are ostreopsis dinos. Keep phosphates and nitrates measurable to encourage the growth of dino competitors. Then run UV on your tank. About 1 watt UV per every 3 gallons of system water. Run from DT back to DT for best efficiency at about 1-3 tank volumes per hour of flow through the UV. UV is very effective against ostreopsis.

should i stop dosing Dino X and start UV? and are 20 ppm of nitrate and .11 of po4 too high?

I personally wouldn’t use dinoX in my tank, but it might work for you.

I would start UV ASAP. You should see results quickly if you follow the posted guidelines. I believe your phosphates and nitrates are perfect for now. Just keep them high enough to measure.

Good luck!

I had good luck using Dr Tims refresh an waste away using there guide on there wed site.

Does anyone know how Dr Tim's wase ways compares to aquaforest probio s? I am post uv and blackout, but I went back to full lights (30% white) and a small amount popped back even with uv still running. I just switched to running only 5% white all blues 3 days ago seems like it's back in check

Honestly what I told you I have done works. May not work on every tank, but I am not affraid of dinos. I had a bad hanna checker that told me I had .04 and .06 phosphates for weeks to find out it was zero. Anyways, I have replaced it and done what I told you to do. Make sure your you are not running gfo, carbon, and uv while using dino x. I was using uv the whole time when I had dino and it did nothing, I had water trickling threw the uv. My tank is always running uv at all times and it didn't stop dinos from happening. Everyone has opinions, and I have listened to them before. Nothing worked before until I did what I told you. Phosphate is the key to keeping dino away. I had a slide with dinos moving around under a microscope, I added a drop of phosphate to the slide and they all stopped moving. I prefer not to use chemicals in my tank, but if it will destroy the hobby for me, then I will use it. Its do you want to leave the hobby and let it destroy your tank, or take a chance and enjoy the hobby. During treatment, I lost 1 cleaner shrimp and a couple snails. This will kill all algea and I found out sponge. I had sponge growing out of
control in my sump and on a rock in my tank.

Here is my thread, sorry no pictures, just been too busy with starting a new job.

Off topic
Can you tell us more about the pic and how you took it. It's a very nice photograph btw .

I had ostreopsis and UV wiped them out completely in 7 days. I installed an Aqua UV Classic 57 watt on around 140 gallons of water volume and running flow through the UV unit at around 300 gph. It was an amazing fix for ostreposis.

If you’re interested, I have more details on a post (#57) on my build thread.

How long after before you started running normal lights setting (whites)? Blackout worked for me first time but came back with weeks later. I will try your method this time around.

I am months after having the outbreak and I am still only on blue lighting too afraid to use white lighting! I found up to 80% blue OK but as soon as I went to 85% the Dino's started to return. I have now upgraded the UV and am now prioritising very small water changes over increasing light intensity. My plan is to ensure this will not cause the Dino's to return before I start increasing light intensity. I will then add 2% to blues weekly to get to 100%. If I can get to that stage for several weeks I will start adding white lighting 1% increments each week.
The Eheim UV seems to be doing a good job so my fingers are well and truly crossed.
Good luck, it's nerve wrecking dealing with these things.

UV wiped mine out as well! I had been battling for months and threw a UV sterilizer in there and in about a week they were gone.
