Dino's everywhere and won't go away

Ok folks I'm at a lost, I have a major outbreak of din's. I have done water changes, changed out my rodi filters, dosed with peroxide (twice) and have done 2 72 hour blackouts. they disappear but slowly return. Any other ideas or thoughts please help. Tank is a 125gal with 2 AI Vega's and 1 Hydra 52 about 9 inches above the water line. Flow is a jerboa rw-15, wp, 25 and 10, with a jerboa dc6000 return pump.

Tanks been going since mid November. I bought it used and reused the sand. Sand sat in a trash can for about a month and a half while I got the tank cleaned and set up. When I did my 72 hour black out I added 1ml of hydrogen peroxide per 10 gal of water. Did the for a length of 5 days during the dosing period. I had read that this had worked for others

Why is your tank cycling? You sure its Dinos and not Hair Algae? Your Phosphates are really high, they should read .05 or under.

I recently added a gfo reactor due to them being so high. That's actually down from what it was. I don't believe it's hair algae. It's brown with air bubbles trapped in it. And forms what looks like a thick blanket on the sand

You think it could be the tank still cycling? I went through a big diatom bloom in january

Oh its still cycling all right. The only thing you should be reading is Nitrates, no ammonia and no nitrites. Something is amiss in your tank, if its still got those readings since its been up.

Only blanketing the sand? No rocks?

Two sand and front glass gets a brown film on it. Some of the rocks will have a few strands of the snot looking stuff. But sand has the most

You have major issues with your water chemistry. I hope you do not any livestock. Follow water change over next several weeks and let the tank cycle. Also, are you dosing alkalinity. Stop that as well

I have a flame angel, 6 line wrasse and a clown fish. Also have some zoas. As well as some snails and hermits. I'll get those out and over to my LFS. Should I run my lights over the next few weeks?

I know the tank went through the original cycle. Tested it after all levels were good for a few weeks. What could have caused this new cycle? You think sand could be the culprit being that it sat for awhile?

Turn off light for 2-3 days may help, turn on when feed the fish not too much food then off the light again. I did mine and all gone..

How long have you had the fish and inverts? How quickly did you add them? Retest and/or get a different test for ammonia and nitrite. If your levels are truly that high on ammonia and nitrite your critters should be dead.

I will admit I'm using API test kits. Birthday is coming up and I asked for Red Sea test kits. I added everything slowly because I know you can't over load the bio load. Also I've done 2 72 hour black out periods. At the end of those periods the Dino's are gone. So I turn my LEDs back on and do a coral acclimation so intensity is decreased by 25% and slowly increases over time. Usually they start to creep back at the end of the acclimation oeriod

I know it sounds like Dinos, but I don't think it is. Suck out what you can, via siphon. Make sure you get some good water flow in that direction. Get those numbers inline, and lets go from there.

If it is dinos, they can be a very difficult problem without any easy answer.

I'm in the same boat.Have you tried one of those silica buster type DI resin's. Do you get your water from Lake Erie? I've been fighting this stuff for over a year in one of my tanks, A 65gal cube. My 55gal next to it, is fine. I use the same water for both? I'm going to try to raise mag with Kent thech M. In a few weeks, to see if that helps. I HATE THIS STUFF!!!. I also put a 36watt UV on the 65gal, helped a little,but not as good as I hoped it would.
