It is an amazingly common theme: Dinos after Chemiclean. I don't have enough fingers and toes to count the number of times I have heard this. Must be something with the erythromycin killing off some competitive bacteria allowing the dinos to take off. That, or people mistaking dinos for cyano which seems like a stretch.
Its looking 1000 times better thanks to you.. Thanks again..Hows your tank doing now ?
Was a bit frustrated when I got home yesterday. Dino's on the sandbed were looking a bit more stringy. That variety is prorocentrum (validated by microscope). Guess I'm dealing with two type since some is showing up on the rocks now too.
I dosed some more Microbacter7 last night and will only have about a 4 hour light cycle today.
Procentrum prefer sand but can also attach to rocks. Only large cell amphidinium are almost exclusively sand bound.
Either way, the treatment is the same for all but amphid.
Ok, my tank is already "dirty". NO3 > 20 pmm. Phos at .14. I did hook up my 25 Watt UV, DT to DT. It's small, but better than nothing I guess. I will continue dosing Microbacter7 and keep elevated nutrients.
Good nutrient levels for the fight. How big is display again?
Today's test results:
Mg: 1365
Ca: 485
Alk: 8.5
Nitrate: 14ppm
Phosphate: .9 ppm
I wasn't too fond of any of the Silica solutions available on Amazon so I bought the more expesive SpongExcel from Bightwell aquatics today. Will start dosing when it arrives tomorrow.

Definitely .9 - I was under the impression the target was 1ppm..9 PO4 or .09?
Hang in there.
No the target is 0.1Definitely .9 - I was under the impression the target was 1ppm.
Well poop. That would explain why my frogspawn and bubble are looking a little upset. Scared to use GFO at this point :/No the target is 0.1
