When you were basting it in duno , is it with force that the Dino’s fly off ?
No dinos blow off pretty easy, i do it at lights off with the UV on, then i inject the bacteria right under the sand.

This is how I rigged by 55w Jebao on my 120g for my Osteprosis outbreak. Week and half later, they're gone. I also dosed nutrients. Will be taking it down this weekend.

So if yours turns out to be the kind that goes in the water column at night, should be very effective.
Is one side directly hooked up to a return pump hanging inside the tank? Pretty awesome!

Looks like amphidinium to me but we'll see what @taricha thinks. If it is, it's not really susceptible to UV. Is yours mainly on the sand bed or on the rocks/coral as well?
In the rocks crevasses, sandbed and glass panels...ill try and get day photos of the sandbed tomorrow

So ive been battling dinos for over 6 months now. Tried two rounds of dr tims with no success.

Three day black out knocks them back to undetectable levels, but within a day their back.

I kept having problems with my Nitrates bottoming out within a few days of being 2ppm or so. I have some health issues going on, so I havnt been able to be ontop of everything.

I'm testing Po4 and No3 everyday right now. Seems my nitrate is 1ppm consumption per day.

What else can I try to beat these devils?
Has anyone raised there tank temp to 82 to see what effect that may have?
I had them for over 2 years, even thrived off dino x and grew with 24 day treatment. I am not joking, I dosed Clorox bleach at 1ml of 7.75% to 10 gallons, every 12 hrs for 3 days. This will kill fish, put them in qt. I took out shrimp also. Snails, hermit and emerald crabs were fine. I did it all, even bulkreefsupply had no answers. After I nuked it, I run KALKWASSER in my ato and keep ph at 8.5. If this didn't work, I was out of the hobby. Bleach makes the dino pop like pop corn before they can form a cyst. I have some sps loss, Lps were fine.

Thoughts on treatment?

These are Large Cell amphidinium dinos.
With my dino battle, I'm getting a much larger UV than what I currently have to help, but i have a couple questions.

- Should I be keeping my algea reactor on during a black out, to help algea out compete Dino's?
- Does RODI water kill Dino's
- Is there any harm in dosing hydrogen peroxide during black out? Or should I wait till lights are back on?

Thanks

1 - yes, I would.
2 - yes, except for cysts
3 - not h2o2 if you are doing number 1.

K thanks. Reason i ask about rodi, is if I get to the point of teardown, curious if soaking rock in rodi eliminates them completely.

I'm going to try silicate dosing next. After blackout again.
Thanks for your help.

Peroxide safe

Either tonight or tomorrow night turn lights off for the next 5 days . Using a turkey baster blow the stuff loose and net or siphon up. Also at night, add 1ml of hydrogen peroxide per 10gallons for the next 5 nights.
During the day, add 1ml of liquid bacteria per 10 gallons.
Continue to feed fish as normal BUT DO NOT FEED CORAL FOOD TO CORAL OR ADD NoPox to tank which will feed Dino.
Day 6, turn blue lights to normal schedule and whites at 10%, then add whites 5.% each day until normal schedule.
Good Bye dinos !!

In I do five day black out and start peroxide. Would I remove Chateo from sump, and take my algea reactor off line?

Thanks @vetteguy53081

Yup. It's the easiest way I could think of making thr DT to DT loop. It ain't pretty, but looks a lot better than a DT covered in brown gunk.
I plumbed mine exactly the same. Thankfully, I have room behind my display so it is not very visible.

Chaeto should be fine. Add bacteria daily. Will help keep biodiversity in check

Once they are knocked back, you need to add some serious biodiversity.
Honeslty, I've probably spent Around 500 between pods and dr tims apparent "treatment" for dions. Dr tims didn't work. After that I dosed a insane amount of pods. Now I'm doing blackout again to knock them back.

Only reason I've stayed away from peroxide up until now is I'm worried about my large acro colonies....or maybe I just read a few people bad experiences and it has prevented me up until now to try it
