Disappointing fish order

lots of bad threads on r2g on many websites, i've ordered twice from them
1) 3 fish (2 doa,1 passed during the night) zoa frag (tiny tiny) some snails and some macro
2nd order) shrooms(very tiny) some snails( decent size) some hermits( some decent some very tiny) and some macro (decent amount).

i would not order fish from them again (alot of complaints online about them) i think alot of there stuff is over price for what u get ( i've shopped and compared prices and sizes on the fish and coral) i would give them another shot for snails. crabs, and macros.
i get most of my clean up crew and macro from reefcleaners.org and some macro in past from live-plants.com
i've had good luck with LA and BZ before
i'm sorry about your loss and i hope it all gets worked out for u
keep us updated

So you're saying if your fish is breath erratically, laying down, obviously from exhaustion or suffocation.
You will still do a 2-3 hour drip method, provides the fish on a few gasps of air from a single drop per xx seconds?

The gasping and struggling to stay upright did not happen until after moving it from the acclimation container to the tank.

Sorry to hear about the shipment. I've got a package coming tomorrow, I'll let you know how it turns out. I've only ever ordered crabs, shrimp, and frags from them. I haven't been brave enough to order fish anywhere yet.

It's interesting to note that many of us had, or still have, some fear of ordering fish over the internet and having them overnighted to us. I know I originally did back in the day. However, this is pretty much what your LFS does. Heck, you maybe even cut out an acclimation or two. So, if you buy from a reputable dealer, and acclimate using that vendor's prescribed method, you will be OK most times. And when you are not, a good vendor will resolve it to your satisfaction. I know that none of us (generally) can look at a bag of water and say "This fish needs to be acclimated by method X, but that one by method y." So you have to go with what the vendor recommends so they will honor their warranty. And as indicated previously, no single method is the only way.

So GatorBen, jump in there and get you a fish or two. Markazadad, take your lumps with R2G and learn a lesson. Maybe use your credit for some of their hardier items that can travel well (I see the have a $1/polyp zoa sale on, and snails and crabs are tough.) Then find you a new vendor for fish. Live Aquaria has been mentioned, as has Saltwaterfish.com, of which I have bought from both. LA always has a good selection and performs admirably IMO, and Saltwaterfish is a professional outfit in warmer climes that may make for easier shipping as we roll into the winter months.

my favorite is Liveaquaria.com followed closely by saltwaterfish.com.

+1 those are the only 2 places I buy fish from from now on,I have had a couple DOAs and some to perish during the the warranty period but have never has a hassle with reimbursements, though it is usually only in the form of store credit, which is fine except you have to order more of something else to receive free shipping....that part I do not like but it is what it is

Yeah, I usually go to the LFS on shipment days and take the fish straight home. I know it's not good to do back to back acclimations. It is the handling and care of each company that make me nervous. I don't need any fish right now but I will probably jump on a group order in the near future and take the dive.

The gasping and struggling to stay upright did not happen until after moving it from the acclimation container to the tank.

That is very unfortunate, the fish was probably not healthy to begin with.
Let alone shipping it in the first place.

Hope everything worked out in your favor.

Happy Reefing.

I dont drip acclimate anything except inverts...i do float the bag for temp acclimation and then add some water every 5 mins or so. Fish can tolerate pH/salinity swings a lot more then we give them credit for. Temp is the biggy

My order came in this afternoon. It was just shrimp, crabs and snails. Does anybody know what kind of shrimp the "feeder" shrimp are from reefs2go? I assumed they were ghost shrimp but they sell some that are almost 3in, I didn't think ghost got that big. Anyway I had 2 feeder shrimp DOA but they gave me about 7 extra so I'm still in the green. One of the emeralds was missing a couple of legs, they should return after the next molt. One peppermint shrimp was doing some weird lean walk, he may be on his way to meeting his maker. Everything else is doing good. I drip acclimated them all, it may not be necessary but it can't hurt. I have had 3 successful dealings with Reefs2go, however I have not ordered fish, and prob won't from them based on this discussion.

I ordered some zoa's from reefs2go over the weekend and am really not happy with the service either. I ordered 5 paly's and I got 2 regular size and 2 baby polyps and one ripped in half down the middle. Another of my zoa's ordered, the mat was torn off the rock on all but 2 polyps. No response to my email with pictures yet.

If they offer a credit on my paly I will not be happy. I did not even get the full amount I paid for here.

I did a quick search on the vendor feedback before I placed my order and did not see them at all. My fault for not doing a more intense search :/ There will certianly be a vendor feedback from me if they do not resolve this asap.

Hey, if you want to retry a fish order soon, markkazdad, I'm in. Just hit me up whenever; I know your vacation is coming up so even after that will be okay!
