Discoloration on Anthias side

Thankfully I have a 60 cube to use as a long term observation tank before fish go into the DT. I'm going to be pretty careful with these 3.
If you can, scope their poop before you put them back into the tank. They love cruising in the poop canal.

I’d definitely use two scoops in the water column and to be honest I’m using a bit more in my food.

I’d focus more on the internal as they are more numerous inside vs outside from what I’ve been seeing.

No doubt this is one parasite that’s got personal for me and I’ll definitely keep you guys updated on my end too. I suspect I’ll start loosing fish soon, but I’m hoping the > dosage will hold them off and eventually kill them.

I wish you the best and keep us updated

They’re sitting in therapeutic copper with 2 level scoops of Metroplex dosed into the water column.

Food is soaked with Metroplex too.

I did a tank transfer tonight, redosed 10.93 ml of Copper Power to a 10 gallon tank. Came out to about 1.65 Cu. Added the two scoops of Metro. One Anthias took a dive out of my dip strainer, took a hard bounce off the sink, and nearly went down the garbage disposal. He got caught on the rubber part and was frozen there. I thought for sure he’d flip into the hole, but he didn’t. I quickly got some long tweezers and gently grabbed him while my wife got under him with a spoon. If he fell down the hole, he would have likely died. I put him back into the tank where he sat on the bottom a little confused from the fall, but after 20 minutes he was back to normal.

No external signs of Uronema. Tomorrow I will examine several fecal samples to see if the Uronema is still present. I’ll be shocked if I don’t find one. Fingers crossed!

So question for those who have been providing such good advice. Once the 14 days of metro are up should I transfer them to a new, sterile, QT tank or is it assumed that any water born urenoma were eradicated by the metro? I have everything needed so it's not a big deal, but no reason to do it unnecessarily either.

Thanks!

I would personally do TTM to lower the possibility that there is even one pathogen left alive in the tank.

All mine are still alive as well and doing great. I will re-check the poop this evening or tomorrow morning. I'm hoping it's all clear. I'll be examining multiple strings of poop. I like to suck it all up and then feed heavy and let them produce some fresh samples. :p

Fish are in therapeutic Copper. Water column treated with Metroplex along with food. 2 scoops.

Will update soon.

Copper + metro really does work well.

Glad to hear they are doing well.

I looked at a few fresh fecal samples tonight. Absolutely nothing. No movement, no eggs, nothing. I’m impressed. All Anthias still doing well. Bicolor dottyback doing well also. Will check again soon.

My next experiment:

Buy 10 Blue Chromis and medicate water column in 10/G QT with 2 scoops Metroplex and feed Metroplex soaked food and see how many will stay alive.

So, the metro regimen is complete and all fish look healthy. Thanks to everyone who participated. Now on to 14 days of copper followed by a transfer to my 60gal observation tank. So, hopefully in 2.5-3 weeks they'll be in a much nicer temp home.

Mine are complete as well. However, I have only 1 of the Anthias trio that has been hiding behind the heater. He was out swimming, but now he’s been acting strange. I tested Ammonia and it was very low. All other fish are doing well. I stopped the therapeutic Copper on day 11. Fish have been fed food soaked Metro for almost 2 weeks now. Only that one Anthias has quite eating. The rest are still eating. On day 11 I terminated all treatment and transferred into a sterile tank w/o any meds. The day after he briefly came out and acted normal. I initially thought he may had not tolerated the Metro/Copper well. Now he’s been hiding again for the last 2-3 days. It can’t be ICH or Velvet. Doubtful it’s Brooklynella. Microscopic examination reveals nothing in the fecal matter itself, but a few organisms are swimming around that I can’t ID. Most likely harmless bacteria or other harmless organisms. They almost looked like Uronema at first (my blood pressure got high :p), but after watching the behavior and body structure I’m positive it’s not. They are much longer and act differently. It’s nothing that I’ve seen before and I’m pretty confident it’s not a threat. Although, I can’t say for sure. I’ll edit a quick video and get it up shortly. Need some input on possibilities? What could this be? I can’t run CP because the Anthias will die. They’ve had Copper. There’s been two transfers and 1 90 minutes bath in Acriflavine. Not really how I want to proceed next. It may be best to merely observe, but if there’s an issue that’s causing him to not eat, I need to handle it. He’s looking skinny.

For unknown listless fish that are not eating and no visible symptoms, I like Kanaplex + Furan2 or Spectrogram. Covers a whole lot of possibilities.

Well, I started ABX for the one affected Anthias. I woke up this morning and he was floating around the tank barely alive. All the others are still eating like pigs in perfect health. I’m not sure what happened, but here’s my observations.

Fish was in therapeutic Copper and Metro for 10+ days. Towards the end, here are the only things that I noticed:

The one Anthias all of a sudden had one side/point of his tail fin broken. Same day I noticed one side fin a bit frayed. This was when I knew something was going on. Then he started hiding behind the heater. Stop eating. Started to look skinnier. Now today basically dead. No labored breathing, no rapid respiratory rate, no spots, no marks, no wounds, etc. The only other thing I noticed is that he was discolored slightly. Not like the normal discoloring, but as if the lights have been off and you cut them on. They all looked the same in the A.M. so to speak.

Who knows what it could be. I’ll cut him open later and begin to search. :(

You just never know how well or badly the fish was treated by the collector, shipper, etc. Could have been some pretty severe internal damage. Only thing I would do at this point is to try a bath in Methylene Blue to increase the O2 transpiration through the fish's gills.
