So my display tank is leaking around the bottom seam. I was going to upgrade in a few months and I already have the tank. First problem is new tank is drilled and I’ve never had a drilled tank before so now I need a crash course in setting one up. Can anyone recommend a video or article that would walk me through the process? I’m just now realizing how different it is [emoji17][emoji17][emoji17]

I’ve got a used dual overflow 150 gal. No manual lol

I'm looking for info to help out. Hit BRS videos on YouTube that should get you started. I will keep digging for more info.

Do you happen to have a picture of your new tank? By dual overflow I'm guessing you mean one in each corner?

BTW, you're about to be asked a lot of questions lol but don't worry we will get it all worked out.

Let’s address your concern about the bottom seam first. I’m guessing that’s why you’re in the emergency forum. How bad is the leak?

Generally speaking a seam leak is something to take care of sooner than later, especially one on the bottom of the tank. Can you setup the new tank before taking down your current setup? If not, now is a good time to get things into temporary housing. If you can, even better!

Ms Tony that SUCKS in capital letters.
I would unload and put it all in a 40 breeder with a air stone, HOB filter and circulation pump.
If you have a light you can put over it that would help the corals, you don't need much though.
Save your water in trash bins as you can do a daily WC.
In this case you buy yourself a lot of time.
Crash courses sometimes results in totally crashes of your system.

Btw, I have a 4o breeder for you but I'm also 50miles away from you.
290 and the grand parkway ain't that bad on a day as today.

As others have said if you can quickly set up temporarily digs for your critters that might be best while we work on getting you plumbed up on the new system. Is there another pipe in the overflows or just the two?

No promises but a leak like the one you have may stop once the water drops to a certain level like 1/3 down from the top. If so then try and adjust your DT so that there is water movement and nothing important dries out and this will buy you some time. best wishes..

Thanks I have an empty 56 and 60. I have 2 55 gal barrels. Leak is not bad. Saw a little water on the floor and noticed salt creep around the bottom brace. I’ve got a fan on it and haven’t seen any more water on the floor. I just took out a 1/4 of the water. Hopefully that will relieve some pressure for a little while. New water is making. About to fill the new tank in the garage to make sure it doesn’t leak. I really wish I leaves a lot closer to u. It would be nice to have someone tell me exactly how to set up the plumbing.

I’m really hoping it doesn’t. I took as much out as I can. Thank u for the positive wishes. I have a few zoas not under water now. Just cheap trash ones so not worried about loosing them as long as the poison doesn’t get released into the air. Not sure how that works.

This is what was in there.

While you’re working on a temp setup for live stock id also get that new/used tank soaking in water/vinegar to start the cleanup unless those are old pics. Sorry and good luck!

Thank u
Just went and got 4 gals of vinegar it definitely needs a good cleaning

Okay so it looks like your tank is set up for dual durso drains. Is this something you wanted to keep? Or did you want to step into a different style of drain with a little more redundancy?

The 2 on the left are the return lines. They retirn the water from the sump to the tank. The piece on the right with the black lock line looks like it goes in the 90 degree fitting on the return. Are their 2 of them? The 2 with the screens are the drain lines. They drain the water to the sump. Are the bulkheads that these peices fit into still in the bottom of the overflow?

Did not come with 2 lock line fitting but thankfully I never throw anything away and have one that’s very similar. It didn’t have the bottom of the bulkheads so I’m homing I can finds new ones at lowes or Home Depot
