Disposal of di resin

I would encourage we stop pointing fingers at our neighbors when the USA with only 4% of world pop is the 2nd largest energy consumer/waster. USA invented plastic and we are the majority plastic producer in the world (most of the biggest plastic companies are based here), so we are guilty of providing these harmful products to civilization. Besides, a lot of these single use plastic ocean wastes come from cruise lines and tourists. Let's remove the giant plank from our own eye before pointing out someones else's problems and instead try to work together for solutions

I think you hit the nail on the head with the words "work together". That is the part other, primarily what we might consider 3rd world countries, are not willing or capable of. I disagree with the "a lot" statement r.e. cruise ships and tourists. Contributors, yes, but comparatively, no. We all need to take personal responsibility for our own actions first and if everyone in the world did this we'd all be in a better place.

I live close to NYC and all of the garbage from Manhattan goes onto barges and gets dumped into the ocean.

Seriously? Did you witness that?
