Divers Den pricing

I looked at them, but usually my work schedule doesn't permit me to make orders (can never be here for when the box arrives). I actually placed an order with TSM that's due to arrive Thursday. I had a great email exchange with them, and will highly recommend them if I actually get anthias that don't die within 24 hrs (local lfs can't get healthy ones in). Until I've received the fish, I will have to rely on the good reputation they've gained with others here.

Ill give them a look too. I love lyretail anthias and i cant keep them alive for the life of me. They never make it through QT :(

Yeah! What's this box fee? Isn't that the cost of doing business? Why do WE have to pay it?!

Checking out on their site reminds me of my cable bill:
TV service: $65
TV taxes: $15
equipment rental: $20
Surcharge: $15
Local tax: $8
Broadcast fee: $12
Total: $135

Well watch my future postings. I've got 2 alive in my system. It took 3 rounds of fish just to get there (RIP 6 poor anthias). I ordered 4 more from TSM after they promised these fish go through 30+ days of copper and then 3 rounds of other treatments (they detail on their website).

If I can have a group of 5, I'll be over the moon. If all the new ones die off, I'm off anthias forever.

Will it be on your build thread?

For sure! I'll probably also do a vendor review of TSM. The animals arrive Thursday, but I likely won't post about it for a week or so to give the animals time to settle in and see how they do.

On another note: I paid $160 for 4 fully quarantined anthias from them. Good luck finding any anthias trio on DD for less than $199 anymore.

So i was just looking at TSM and their QT process and according to their website they do not proactively treat for parasites. They only treat if necessary.

According to the emails they sent me, " All of our fish receive a full 30+ days of copper at therapeutic level and 3 rounds of praziquantal. We will not ship you any fish that we don't feel are 100% healthy. "

Again, I'll post in my build thread how this fish addition goes. The proof is in the product.

You know what's great about capitalism? If you dont want to buy something then dont! Liveaquaria has been in the game longer than 95% of the people here and they will still be here after 95% of us leave. They love the hobby just as much as us. In times like these with the global economy sometimes it makes sense to sell out to the big companies in order to keep afloat. With all that said it's just best to not shop there if you think its overpriced. I read several posts a day on how bad liveaquaria has become. It is just silly... like they owe it to us to have the cheapest price in town, a fully stocked selection, and have the animal on our doorstep by 10am the following day is perfect health. Get over it people!

You wouldnt have to read several posts a day if they didnt price gouge and change their DOA policy... and just like "we dont have to shop there" you dont have to read the posts.... scroll on by

I think the issue isn't that they aren't the cheapest AND the best quality, but they aren't the cheapest OR the best quality. When the biggest in the business offers high prices and poor quality, it sets the tone for everyone else in the industry.

But BECAUSE they are the biggest, they can get away with it. If I'm any of these other retailers, I'm asking myself why I quarentine fish, because LA doesn't, and they can sell. Or I'm asking myself why I'm selling a wrasse for $45 when LA sells it for $90.

If you agree with them, support them. As you said, this is capitalism after all. But threads like this tell you why many of us don't support them.

So they love the hobby so much that they send DOA animals quite often? Have you not seen those posts as well or just see the ones that you want?

They used to be my go to for most of my fish. Especially fish my LFS never had. But the divers den pricing is just getting way to high. Especially since people can go else where and get treated fish for the same price if not cheaper. They just had a powder blue for 18x, marine collectors pre treated is 135. Hopefully they figure it out and lower their prices to be competitive with other stores and possibly even lower than places that treat your fish for you

They were mine too...still have several of the fish I've purchased many years ago that i was never afraid to put directly into my display....no way I'd do that anymore...but over the two+ years prices gave been getting too high - did you see the 8.5 inch $899 Maldivian Emperor Angel a week or so ago? -while the health & quality of the fish has gone down - I've had losses after just a few weeks on my last orders AND the customer service have gotten much worse along w/ their warranty policies

Have to sell alot of fish and coral to pay this bill.

My last two fish orders were from TSM. I think I paid $130 or so a PBT. Just saw they're selling them on DD for $300.00.

I have been impressed with TSM. Doesn't look like they've inflated their fish prices either

Can't wait to start purchasing form TSM. I just can't beleive that people are still buying DD live stock after the exponential price increases.
