Yes, ESV B-ionic original is more potent than my DIY, which BRS sells. The calculator linked at the top of this forum shows both.

Since starting the esv 2part ph had dropped and alk is more stable. Why is this ?

Just an FYI. I have been using Jim's 2 part recipe for the last 7 months and it has worked well for me. What I really like about it is that it automatically keeps Magnesium in check. It was easy to get Sodium Sulfate on ebay.

Are you using the Bicarbonate B-ionic? It is like my recipe using sodium bicarbonate and will result in a lower pH.

Otherwise, for a similar alk dose, the pH resulting from the original B-ionic and my DIY using baked baking soda (sodium carbonate) will be the same, as likely will be the stability.

If you were dosing the same total amount of alkalinity each day and in the same timing of doses, the two methods won't have any significant difference in their effect on pH and alk stability.

It's funny that you say this cause the only thing that I changed was that and my alk is a lot more stable and also ph is lower. Ph was in the area of 8.30-8.50 now 7.94-7.99 I will test alk in a few before dosing start.
