I do not know the stability. I'd keep it room temp or cold. I expect it is good for while (weeks) if tightly closed.

Clearly, if you have a tablet that contains 25 mg of manganese, and dissolve it in X amount of water, then you can use that measure for dosing.

1 tablet with 25 mg in 1000 mL of water contains 25 mg/1000 mL = 0.025 mg/mL = 25 ug/mL

If you have a 100 liter aquarium, and you want to dose from zero to 0.2 ug/L, then you want to add 100 liters x 0.2 ug/l = 20 ug of manganese.

If the dosing solution contains 25 ug/mL, then you would dose 20 ug/25 ug/mL = 0.8 mL.

Let's suppose your target is 165 ng/L, which is a typical ocean value (it varies a lot). Triton uses a set point 10x higher.

100 gallons is 379 liters.

So a NSW value of 165 ng/L x 379 L = 62,535 ng (0.063 mg) in your tank.

From the stock recipe above:

Manganese(II) chloride tetrahydrate is 28% manganese by weight.
Here's a recipe:

Dissolve 1 gram (which contains 280 mg actual manganese) in 2.8 L fresh water. Manganese = 280 mg/2.8 L = 100 mg/l.

Thus you want 0.063 mg/100 mg/L = 0.00063 L or 0.6 mL added to the tank to high NSW levels. About ten times that amount (6 mL) if you want to high the Triton set point.

@Randy Holmes-Farley Would these dose amounts be daily/weekly/ or just to get from level x to level y in a given aquarium? Thank you

Those are just level to level calculations.

Consumption will vary by tank, but is typically pretty fast. I'd expect that a full NSW dose once a week is a decent starting point.

I personally do not recommend dosing it as it has no known need in any organism, reef or otherwise.

If you really want to anyway, I’d look to buy a good quality rubidium chloride and I can devise a recipe.
