dknuckles 110 rimless tank build...Dragon's Den

I have been in this hobby since '93' and this is my first planned tank build! Sooooo excited!!!!!!

After flooding my living rm floor @ least 10 too many times it was time for flooring replacement and since I had 3 Kalk mega dosings in a 4 month period (needless to say new tank will never see the stuff!) my sandbed was toast! As all of us married reefers already have IDd that this is a perfect set up for rationale to build a new tank hehe!! So I seized the moment..

My new baby (Dragon's Den) will be a 95% SPS dominant Rimless 48x24x22 3 side Starfire 1/2" glass all around. End drilled for Glass-Holes overflow and 2 for return lines. Wanted to go w/ a ton of linear type flow. Primary means of water movement will be a Tunze Wavebox & 6105 (slave) and 2- Vertex flow accelerators @ both returns. Sump will be 48x18x12 I will be using mud type filtration w/ cheato and LR both will be in "holders" just in case need of servicing. 2 filter socks will be used throughout in conjunction w/ either SWC or Super Reef Octopus skimmer, Octopus Water Blaster 5000 return pump and a SCWD 1" (this bad boy is not like its little brother! Totally servicable, only non-gaudy (well less gaudy) solution for alternating currents). There will be minimal extra pumps in the sump accomplished by a manifold to run Vertex CaRx, octopus Bio-Pellet, carbon, and phosban reactors. Lighting will be 2 AI SOL Blue LEDs w/T5 suppl lighting (I really hate shadows)
Stand will be hand build w/ maple, stained Teak w/black accents in the design of a pergola. Front and side panels will be removable to provide total access to sump.

Now the fun part putting it together
It will take me forever to figure exact way I want the rock work. Already have a plan, but I know it will change in process. Again when it has water flow going..and yet again when stocking (have to accommodate growth characteristics)
I forgot how much fun it is planning and putting together!

Just order all my plumbing!

I found a supplier of black 1"&1 1 1/2" PVC pipe (same dimensions as sched40 but not rated)(true union ball valves, and various fittings)
35' total pipe 2-true union ball valve around $110 shipped
They specialize in plumbing for pond and aquarium use.
I will be starting a thread when the materials arrive so I can give accurate claims to there products.

Tagging along for ideas, I am in the process of building almost the identical system(same dimensions of DT and sump) minus my ghetto-fied versions of equipment and components,lol. You already inspired the idea of a manifold instead of running redundant returns. thanks, and I can't wait to see it in action.

Sorry fell a little behind.
Well I finally realized that I can get crazy as I want but a new tank is useless w/o a stand...

Since I obsess about everything else in this hobby may as well not skimp on my build here

After seeing how stands are made not to mention the cost there was no way I would trust staples and simple 1x construction...oak please :/
I chose to use common pine (bc I really love the knots...however constructionally incorrect, and thanks Juniormc8704 for bugging me till i caved to plane the wood LOLOL) glued and screwed sandwiched 1x6 Jenga'd together (thank you Poseidon/Mike for the recommendation!!) It will be completely pained/poly w/ stained front, sump area will be poly'd then rubberized (for always inevitable overflow). There is a dry box under the top of the stand to safely store all power strips, and a drain in the top (under tank) to direct any overflow into the top of the ref/sump
