Finally getting everything up and running. Tank is 96x36x16 shallow. I have a panworld 200 external pump rate at 1750 gph and 2 icecap 3k gyres placed on the opposite side of the over flow box where the two return lines come in. It's a peninsula style tank. Being a shallow tank would this be enough flow for a mixed reef? The two gyres can really push some water across the 8 ft tank. I also have two rfg nozzles on both return lines. Any feedback or recommendations is appreciated.

Imo that is a good start.
Remember you don’t want a strong continues flow from your return pump direct on the corals.
If the gyres not being enough you always can add one or more pumps to that 8’ beast.

In the process of building a floating canopy for it which is why no lights yet. It's coming along slowly lol.

Now that’s a shallow tank, great build.

Btw, did you already started a build thread?
You should as there aren’t many of the shallows like yours.

That's a lot of pump for the RFG nozzles; make sure you fit them in tightly lest they get blown off. PW200 doesn't lose much to back pressure. I'm running one against almost 15' of head pressure and it still gives me over 1,500 gph. That plus gyres should be enough for a 200-ish gallon tank.

Yes the panworld is an awesome pump. I put a ball valve on the output and have it turned down some just because it was so much flow. How long have you had the pump?

Whoopsie, got my pumps mixed up. I ran a PW200 on my 450 (and 265 before that) for years. Very reliable pump. I recently switched to the PW250 to get a bit more flow. That's the pump I'm getting 1,500 against a max of 1,900. When I ran the 200, I got 1,200 against a max of 1,750. Regardless, still have those nozzles on nice and tight.

Thanks. Truvu is the company who built the tank but I bought the tank and stand off Craigslist.[/QUOTE

That just totally threw me off, as "Tru-Vue" is an acrylic sheet manufacturer. I get acrylic from them for framing. I jumped as I read that at the thought of them making me a tank. but alas.... wrong "Truvu"

love this build - the dimensions are very unique.
I think you're on the right track for flow. the Gyres will certainly push the water to the ends, while the RFG Nozzles, combined with the type of flow that pump can produce, will really help to break up the laminar nature of the gyres flow.

What size RFGs did you go with? It's hard to tell from the photo, but they look like the the 1in Slip-Fit version?

Yeah Truvu lol. I don't see the dimensions of my tank on their website so I'm assuming it was custom made. Yes I have two 1 inch slip fit of the rfgs. They really do a good job thus far with random flow. Very happy with them

So shallow yet Very accessible. I can in no way reach the lower 8" of my tank due to how tall it is
