Will my 2 hob filters'(60 gallons each) provide enough water movement at the top? Or do i 'need' to buy the air pump/air stone?
HOB filters vary in their ability to aerate the water based entirely on the distance that the water drops back into the aquarium. If they don't create lots of bubbles, they aren't really doing the job. Lowering the water level to allow for more "drop" helps create more bubbles, but air stones, set at the bottom the the tank, and rising up through the water column are always better.
