Do you feed your anemones fish?

You want to feed it portions it can get in its mouth. Don’t go overboard with it because the nem might regurgitate the food if it’s too much or it can rot in the anemone’s stomach. Feed it very small portions and give it several days to digest its meal. As it grows you can feed it a bit more but never more than it can fit in its mouth.
I am making food for over 20 anemones, ranging from 3 inches to 16 inches across. Maybe I'll stick with the food processor, lol.

That’s what I do. It makes it easier to digest I think. Just thaw it out prior to feeding.

I see your point! Yes, this is essentially what I am going for in my tank, although I will have more types than just BTA. And I do not feed my fish enough, apparently, because my anemones don't grow like this. :)
Think that was during covid when I left the tank pretty much on autopilot and I hardly feed the fish then. Nori and maybe flakes once a day. I had cleaned out 2/3 of the tank sometime before covid and then during covid they completely took over again when I let it go. What it's about is intense lighting and tank nutrients. Those Radions were probably close to 100% and it was even worse when I ran MH/T5. I got into the same situation back around 2000 with a 90g tank I had running MH. One thing those two situations have in common is almost non existent water changes. Here's my tank yesterday almost cleaned out. Still trying to catch last clown and then last RBTA's get exiled.

Very cool! I am still a long way from overstocked, but I will be plenty happy when I get there. I'm kinda over corals for the moment, and I've never been in it to make money. But anemones have always been a favorite of mine.
I get it I like them too which is the only reason RBTA's got a new home and not the toilet lol. I picked up a green one to mix it up some but it's still in hiding.

Over the years so I've fed my anemones mysis shrimp, scallops, mixed frozen foods, etc. I just got the urge to try fish. Here's the catch, each of the steaks is probably a 3-month supply. For those who have done this, how do you go from here to feeding portions without wasting the rest of the steak?

Mine get mysis shrimp, and chopped shrimp and scallops. As just mentioned to someone else- I just bought scallops for my nems and elegance and holy cow- Was now $26.99/lb

LOL! Yeah at this rate, my anemones are going to be eating better than me. :grinning-face-with-sweat:

I am doing mysis shrimp separately, and I just made a scallops/fish mix that I'll try next based on this thread. I'll look for mussels and shrimp too, but I heard somewhere I have to be careful with which shrimp I use - do you know anything about that?

I would be cautious when feeding anemones. I fed my Magnifica a larger chunk of my homemade seafood concoction (shrimp, squid, clams, scallops) and it shriveled up for a week straight to the point where I thought I was going to lose it. I’m not sure if the piece of food was too large or if it contained bacteria inside it that negatively effected the anemone. I’ve heard others lose anemones from feeding bacteria infected food.

No way am I feeding Ahi tuna to anemone, I'm eating that. A small piece of silverside would be just fine if you need to feed.

OK, I got some scallops to go with my steak, and I'm thawing a test portion of each overnight. @BigWillStyle @Fishy888 any suggestions on portion sizing? When I do scallops I just use a food processor, but the sizes I get are (obviously) very random unless I want it to be a puree.
Hey! Glad I could give some inspiration. I aimed for cutting the pieces down to a quarter of the mouth size and putting 3-4 pieces per cube. I used shrimp most of the time as it was easy to find small portions to cut.

They will spit out what they don't eat but its a pretty dirty process. I have heard but not seen any actual data to back up that overfeeding will stunt splitting.

Nems were the most interesting thing to me when I first started. Now, I have to agree with @zoomonster about taking over the tank and I just gave away my last two giant guys. Really some good lighting and flow will get them growing and splitting without all this work haha

Once a week. But it is hard not to feed the nems more when you have to feed your fish in a nano tank . The anemones are always looking for left overs
