I find it hard to believe that im the only person thats left someone over the constant nagging about my tanks.

She would not shut it, constant fight over the tanks, spent too much time on them and blah blah blah...

Buh bye

hahaha thats what i call dedication. the man ditched his chic for fish lol

she may have seen it that way as well and thats where the problem was. Accept me for me or obviously you really dont want to be with me, your looking for someone else and im not changing me to conform to someone elses idea of what they want.

You ever notice the support you until things go bad and 20 gallons of water are on the ground?? Then you just get the look and it's solo time until all the toweling is done

I think once your married, it's a little different....but if I was single and got grief...I'd be gone too...life to too short to fight with someone who doesn't understand your passion.
There's times when my hubby crabs...he doesn't get the hobby at all, but in the grand scheme of things, he really is good man...so I guess if he can over look my faults (total LOVE of this hobby) I can overlook his ( Indifference to this hobby).

My wife can be supportive, she goes to some of my reef club meetings with me sometimes. She picks out fish and corals for the tank, but don't let me come near her with tank water on my arm. She doesn't want anything to do with the hands on aspects of the hobby......a direct quote from her....."your what broke? Okay, just don't touch me with any of that fishy water."

Very funny:bigsmile:...I am lucky in that whenever there is a disaster, and I have had a few, I get help right away. I have even convinced the other half that tile is the best bet for the house as no more carpet damage from unexpected floods. We are picking out the tile right now and when we get the floors done the new tank will get set up at the same time. Now that is total SUPPORT:wink:.

My wife fully supports our reef hobby. We attend meetings together, MANCA, MAX, local club meetings etc. I travel a lot with my job and she watches the tanks while I'm away. We select all the corals and fish that go into our tanks together.

Haha that IS total support!!

She supports me and travels with me on all of my wild coral chases but she's also there to remind me I'm on a budget! I can't complain though, she listens to me complain about issues in the tank and puts up with me staring at a rock for hours until I feel it looks perfect!

my GF and her kid love the tanks and the gf does not really get on me about buying anything (within reason) but neither one of them are interested in getting involved with it.

All I can say is that if it wasn’t for my wife’s support, we wouldn’t still be into reef keeping. She takes care of our greenhouse system when I am working my 7 days on and loves to make the lfs circuit when we travel. She is the Arco and chalice person in our family. And as long as she gets her Dooney's I get my Aussie Acans.

My wife supports it fully. There've been a few time I just wanted to shut the tank down and she wouldn't let me. Says I need something "challenging" to de-stress after work. Unfortunately, she develops an affinity for certain corals so, much to the disappointment of others, she won't let them be fragged. The only other downside is she tells me I sell frags too cheap or give too many away. However, it's nice to know I have an expert to look after the tank when I'm on travel. Jperbrt. oy

My wife is on the fence about the whole thing. She likes that I have a hobby I really enjoy but hates that I can drop 1k in a heart beat on frags. So its a fine line between love and hate with her.

Kind of funny...I saw this old post and had to laugh out loud. I got sick and tired of all the bull from my husband...I left him in June of 09...took until June of 2011 to finally get free. I headed to Arkansas and have never been happier. Funniest part of all, I sold all my tanks and supplies before I walked out the door and the guy that hated my hobby listed it as "community property" and wanted half of the money from their sale. Only thing that kept that from happening is that he made an earlier, sworn statement that the tanks were all mine and ruined the whole house. I am so happy, I lost 149lbs and went from size 22 jeans to size 4. I have a huge farm and everything I could hope for.:attention:

If you're interested, we have a local reef club on Northwest Arkansas that meets monthly. Not sure how far a drive it is for you but here's our local web site if you're interested.

I'm so jealous of supporting wives....I see members saying their wives give them bigger tanks for bdays, Xmas...it almost makes me cry.
My wife complaints about the hobby all the time, shes always saying it takes time from us being together, that is an obsession...but she has her stuff I don't nag about, but somehow when it's her stuff, it's normal and no big deal...

Every time my wife sees me taking pictures of the tank, she'll ask if I'm finally selling the tank on Craigslist.

My wife could care less either way. She's happy for me to have it but has no interest. She let's me talk to her about it, but to her you might as well be speaking another language.
