Do you guys drip acclimate hermits and snails for CUC?

I always drip acclimate inverts. However the last time I added snails and hermits and dripped them, all but one of the nassarius snails died. I have bags from the LFS floating with nassarius, astrea and blue leg hermits right now and was wondering should drip them or do the cup method?

My method with inverts... Dump 1/3-1/2 of the bag and replace with tank water over the course of an hour, repeat 2-4 times depending on how much I like said invert

i drip acclimate mine in the bag, then i float them for 15 minutes. then i add them to the tank not adding any of the water to the tank.

I usually drip them because I cant just buy those when I go so I throw everything together and drip into that bucket

Nope. I tried a couple times and lost a few. I grab them by the handful a drop in the tank and watch them fall to the bottom

Same here and never lost an invert.

I don’t acclimate standard clean up crew. Float the bag for 15 or so minutes and just drop them in.

Nope I order online and believe delaying getting stuff into the water causes more harm. I just temp acclimate and add some water to the bag.

I temp acclimate and toss in. My LFS salinity is the same as mine.

Depends on how long they've been bagged. If they were shipped, I temp acclimate and drop in. The salinity difference is easier for them to handle than the ammonia toxicity caused by pH increasing from air/tank water.

Thanks everyone for all the quick responses. I decided to float the bag and drop them in. They all took off pretty quickly. I figured with the previous bad experience of dripping and they aren't too expensive I could risk it.

i dont drip acclimate any snails and honestly i dont drip acclimate fish either i always try to match the salinity of where im getting my fish or snails from

I've had snails/hermits go great, or badly either way.
I just tend to buy them when they're cheap and float em and dump em now.

Honestly, my wifes Wrasses are just going to eat 40% of them anyhow.

Sure there might be some very delicate snails out there, but I've never understood the point of acclimating creatures that live in tidal zones where water conditions experience dramatic changes all the time. Definitely no need to acclimate hermit crabs at least.

I am more diligent with acclimating snails than anything else (because I have lost more snails than other creatures upon arrival). So yes, I drip acclimate snails (have not had hermits in the last ~10 years).

The last couple times I have ordered snails they were packaged without water in the bag. They were all closed up until I dumped them in a bowl of tank water. I have had a tendency to lose snails after drip acclimating.

Never in 10+ years, only large crabs/inverts....temp acclimate only
