Do you have a sand pile? You know the one out in the backyard where you dump your old sand. :)

Just me?

I tried that but it turned into a litter box for the neighborhood cats!!!

I have several 5 gallon buckets filled with sand under my deck. The only sand I'm using these days is a thin layer in a 10g nano, but who knows maybe one day I'll get a red carpet anemone and need a deep sand bed, or I'll get garden eels again (that is the reason I have 100s of lbs of sand under my deck).

Yeah, I have a spot way out in back in the woods, that I dump old sand.
But it's near the property line so I rake a layer of leaves over it, just in case the neighbor notices a smell. lol

Nope, goes in the trash if I'm not using it.

I live in an apartment, so they'd probably frown on me pouring it in their landscaping.

If you broadcast spread it then they won’t know the difference. I’m sure it will be fine! ;Smuggrin

I thought it would help stop weeds by sweeping it between the patio pavers, but it did just the opposite

True. They may also find a few frag skeletons in their hedges after I leave...

I must be doing something wrong! I don't have any old sand to dispose of....well except the small amount from QT'ing sand sleeping wrasses. Are you guys changing out your sand beds every so often or is the result of multiple tank restarts/problems?

Go bare bottom and just keep enough sand for your wrasses to sleep in. Then you will have piles of sand to store outside in case you change your mind.

I have restarted several tanks over the years and used new sand, plus sand from qt tanks when needed gets changed out.

Do you have a lot of sand because you have a lot of tanks? break down tanks and build new ones? I have 2 tanks and never dumped any sand
