Does anyone have a successful sps tank using BRS ro/di?

Over the years I've used the following RODI brands.

Kent marine, Air water and ice, brs, and spectrapure.

They will all produce quality water for a time so as a matter of fact they all work. Now comes the most important factor and that is total cost. Not just the cost of the unit, but the cost of unit , filters, resin and membrane life.

This is my experience so far.

Out of all of these units I've had I believe the longest lasting and most overall economical one hands down is the spectrapure brand. I'm not sure what they do but I took a look at what they had to offer. The membrane has out performed all the others and has kept its rejection rate as the day I bought it.

The cost of replacement filters is a lot less due to the interval between changes and the DI resigns last wayyyyyy longer than any other I've used.

I'm not biased in the least bit. Only stating facts that I know are true.

Spectrapure is the only brand I'll use now. Like I said I'm not sure how they treat there membranes but it works fantastically and saves me a lot of money on resin.

The new Spectrapure Select series is rated at 99%. They used to state "better than 98%" but have improved from there. The difference between 98% and 99% is a 25% to 50% increase in DI life. That little bit makes a big difference.

Spectrapure uses various membranes, none of them Dow (according to Charles as of today). in fact, they make a lot of products in-house including di, which they're just releasing two new di filters. They also just came out with a brand new ato system and a less expensive (more efficient) version of the uhe.

People don't realize how many products Charles creates, makes in-house and markets to not only huge corporations, but also to the saltwater industry. how many know that Charles was the very first person to introduce rodi water to the aquarium industry?

And I'll repeat this again - wonder why brs TV never compares their products to spectrapure?

I have been meaning to stop in and chat with him but have been stuck out of town the last 4 months. I need new filters for my UHE so maybe when I get back I will stop by. Even being in the water industry myself, much of what Charles talks about goes right over my head. He is always coming up with new ideas, truly an innovator in the industry!

His background is amazing. wait until you stop by and hear about the projects he's currently working on. not allowed to say anything myself, but it's incredible stuff...as always.

Spectrapure UHE unit works better for me than an earlier AquaFX unit I had, I produce about 500 gallons a month and the DI filters are lasting about 5 times with the Maxcap filters.
