My zoas do this everytime I do a water change. They don't seem otherwise bothered, but I was just curious.

Probably some vermetid worm I think. They send out silky threads to catch debris. Not that bad but annoying to corals. They have a calcified curly-q shell. Look for it.

How big are they? And why does it happen only when I change the water?

If u only have a few I would tweeze them out or super glue them. They're definetly a pest. They don't hurt zoas but def irritate them

Sometimes coral will slime when they are disturbed to give them a little protection

The zoas/paly slime, They are trying to adjust to the water. As stated above the slime gives them a little bit of protection. Nothing to worry about. :)

Thanks! That makes sense.
