Does anyone want some free xenia?

I am about to start a Fluke tab treatment to get rid of xenia in my 180. Before I do, I would like to give away as mush xenia as possible.

I have three different kinds of xenia: so-called Blue xenia (is blue under sunlight but pale pink in my tank), pink pompom xenia (that pulse very well), and orange/pink Xenia elongata.

Let me know if you want some.

I have a couple of small-to-medium pieces on their own island, and am not dissatisfied with them. However, I don't want them taking over. Are you getting rid of yours just because they are over-running other things, or are you just tired of the look? Also, what kind of overall SPS health impact would you expect from the Fluke tab treatment?

Yep, they are over-running everything. My pink pompom xenia are harmless. Nothing seems to be bothered by it, although the xenia can block light. Blue xenia on the other hand can really hide things and some corals come out bleached from underneath (probably from shading, but not sure.) I love the look of the pink xenias. They do add nice splash of color to the tank and give the tank color-coordinated appearance, but they just grow too fast for me.

I am hoping that a trace amount of Fluke Tabs would not persist too long in water. If I can keep a small island of pink pompom xenia, I'd be happy. I am still researching on the fluke tab treatment. It supposedly kills xenia, blue polyps, green star polyps and the like, but SPS's, LPS's and zoas are not affected.

I have two different kinds of xenias but I'm interested in checking yours out. Either way I could keep a frag of the pink pompom xenias in my tank for you and then you can add it back after your tank processes Fluke tabs.

Thanks, but I have a 29 gallon Oceanic Cube where I keep softies. I already have some xenia there. For some reason xenia does not grow so rampantly there.

When you say blue polyps are you referring to Clove polyps? I've got a lot of those that I'd like to get rid of.

Yes, the blue polyps and other clove polyps - the same thing that you have. Search on the thread called "Fluke Tabs Solved My Blue Clove Polyp Problem!" on the other forum.

Good, keep us posted with your results. I've got a couple of big leathers that might be a problem. Did you find some Fluke Tabs? On the other post it indicated they were hard to find. I Googled them and they came up though.

I will keep you guys posted. I have a large leather in my 180, too. I will try to remove as much leather and xenia out of the tank before I introduce Fluke tabs to keep the tank water from getting nasty. I have some Fluke Tabs on hand although it's a few years old now.

Yes, I still have a lot on live rocks. I will cut you some if you want. You can attach them to a live rock rubble easily with a rubber band.

I love xenia actually. I've had the elongata for 10 years. The pink pompom has been in my tanks for nine and a half years now. It adds nice pink color and movement to an aquarium.

It's the so-called blue one that I am having an issue with. It seems to spread more readily. Just a tiny waving hand, that goes wayward when pruned, can land somewhere in the tank and starts another colony. It's almost as bad as the blue polyps.
