Another thing to think about is BTAs split, and in a smaller tank, they can quickly take over your rock work, not leaving any room for corals. What about getting rock flower anemones? They don't split, and they don't host, so there is no need to worry about the clown's attitudes.

Oh I am definitely getting RFA's. I am just trying to help curve my husbands desire for an anemone, with some anecdotal evidence that it isn't a good idea. Back me up REEF2REEF! I know he already doesn't feel like he is very involved in the tank, except when I have him help with water changes.- HA.
Admittedly, I thought the anemone would be the first thing we purchased, but now Im reading how much of a headache they can be, especially in a smaller tank. I think a tank dedicated to just anemones would be cool, so I'm going to try to work that angle at some point down the line.
We did have a sebae anemone (which my female did host) when we acquired the tank but it didn't last very long. After researching, I found out the previous owner hadn't given much thought to the purchase, as it is a very difficult anemone to keep and requires MUCH better lighting than our Stock biocube provides. It kind of withered away and I removed it before it nuked the tank.

In less than 30 gallons there is going to be concern of the nem stinging and killing the other corals.
Look into weeping willow toadstool, euphilia corals, or Duncan. They look similar to nems and many will host clowns.

There is the appeal that the anemone would kill my GSP... and then it wouldn't be my fault that it "died"

I’ll add shrooms to the list too. Hairy rhodactis look a lot like carpet nems imo.

a LFS told me my tank had enough space for at least three long tentacle anemones. It was then, I should have handed him back his "lawnmower" blenny and backwards moonwalked out of the store. lol

I read stuff like that a lot. So some clowns are "jerks no matter what".

Clowns are jerks no matter what.
But, only after they they fully mature and find that place they wish to call home to reproduce. Hey, survival of the fittest, right? Cannot blame them. So, yes! If you give them a great home like a natural host and they take to it, you better believe they will protect it.
