Does R2R have a blacklist?

There’s no way of knowing the person’s motivation for their questions. I think it’s unlikely that their reasons are nefarious. Maybe think of it from their perspective too. It’s not that uncommon that sellers are the ones being sketchy and dishonest.

In this business you’ll have a lot of different kinds of customers. Some sales are just not worth your time to entertain.

This is an expensive hobby. Asking questions is smart imo. Not sure what type of questions people are asking, but sometimes I think people want to get to know you a little before spending 1-3 months tank budget. Each consumer wants to be treated like your BEST customer.

i posted this simply because I want to know if there’s a blacklist that I can check so I can avoid people like the one

if you bought corals from me you’d know I’m an excellent person to buy corals from and I move mountains to give people excellent customer service .. and this is just a hobby of mine. That’s why it gets frustrating. People on here are very quick to judge me.. but that’s okay.

I'm not quick to judge anyone. I think the expression "it's just business" might be best to remind yourself. Good luck with your sales, and keep up the customer service. It matters to most of us.

I guess I'm just lucky.....Every one I've dealt with on here has been super nice.. I've bought a lot of equipment off other members..All very good deals in my opinion...I want to thank everyone for all the free advice..And this forum for all the great info..

Just part of selling anything unfortunately. I used to sell reptiles back when some people still wanted to send checks. I can’t even count the amount of times people told me they sent the check out and I pulled the sale ad. Then ghosted me when the check never showed up. I even had one that sent me a pic of an addressed and stamped envelope as proof they were sending it then disappear.

I've never sold Coral but I do retail for a living and work for a well known electronics company (big yellow tag) and I see a lot of what you are complaining about at my job. I can only count on 1 hand how many 77 oleds ($5500) tv I sold but lost count of how many would say they would come back and buy.

Consumers today look around for the best pricing, and may ask a ton of questions about what you are selling, some might be serious about buying, some just want to know about the piece and may not buy, others just want to see if they are being ripped off, and some want an education of what they are looking at buying. If you have good customer service people will come back to you when they are ready to buy.

I texted a vendor a couple of weeks ago to ask some questions regarding their quarantine process. I’m deciding who I want to order fish from. They will get my order in the next month or two but I’m not ready to buy today. Maybe you just need to wait a little. Why blacklist someone for not ordering right away? they might place a large order next month. seems odd that you don’t want to do business with someone because they asked questions but didn’t place an order. makes me never want to order from you.

My advice is to just do a search of the buyer's name in the feedback forum. Beyond that, do as I do and keep your own unspoken blacklist. I found it's very rare that I have to add someone's name to it.

Brian, I think I get what you are getting at. Tire kickers. Just wasting your time?

That is the nature of sales business. You never know who is a serious buyer, so, it is in the seller's best interest to entertain everyone.

My suggestion would be to put together a FAQ so that you can anticipate questions and have them answered before the buyer asks.

I personally try to deposit or pay upfront just to get a fair hold on a item. I always call or email to see how long it can be held for if I’m out of town and if I pay will it be okay for them to hold it. I try to treat people how I would like to be treated when buying or selling a item.

There's no blacklist. We do have a feedback forum you can check. I appreciate the gesture of holding corals for people, but I think if it's become a problem, maybe requiring a deposit for holding is the best way to do it.
