Dog faced puffer with ich for over 4 weeks

I did a fresh water bath on my guy last night just to help give him some relief because he looked more covered in parasites than he had. He seemed to do fine with it. Looks better today. Hopefully all will continue to go well for your guy and mine I love the dog faced puffer, he's got so much personality. And I just love when he crinkles his nose at me. Lol

Mine is getting comfortable with me, only had him 2 weeks, but he will come up and greet me, and stick his nose out of the water, and now he spits water at me when he wants food...lol

Truly is a dog of the sea.

Hey so I did a fresh water dip last night. He seemed to do fine with it, also did a methylene blue dip after to help any bacterial infections...and because I had it. I was under the impression that many of the parasites would fall off in the fresh water dip, but he looks the same today[emoji19]
Here's some pics of his skin about 2 weeks after he started showing symptoms. Hes going on 6 weeks now. Still eating well, but his eyes seem to bother him. He also appears to have more black pigment spots on his skin than when I bought him. I figure that's probably hyperpigmentation from chronic inflammation, but not sure.
Am I still on the right treatment course?

The white dots you are seeing are excess mucous from the fish's immune response, not the parasite itself. It can take a few days for that to abate after the parasites are gone. After all, the skin/scales are still very much irritated from where the trophonts had been feeding.

IME; they handle a FW dip quite well. You could also try a 90 min bath in acriflavine (e.g. Ruby Reef Rally) for immediate relief.

Puffer is doing great. Looks back to normal and eating well. Now I just have to hope he doesn't come down with it again when he goes back in the display tank in a couple weeks.

It would be best to go fallow in the DT for 76 days. This breaks the parasite's lifecycle because you are denying them a (fish) host to feed upon. So, they literally starve to death in a fishless environment.

Hes great! Sorry I didnt see this till now.
Tank has never looked better. The cp has kept the tank algae free.
I'm nervous though- I have to move the tank this weekend to a new house. I hope everything stays stable[emoji120]
