Doing the dirty work: Have you used filter rollers with your reef?

just wait until you have to replace the roll. I've been using one since they came out, and will get rid of mine once I'm out of rolls. What a PITA.

It's not that difficult?

Love my reefmat 1200 once I figured out what water level to run it in ! I went from using 50 inches a day to 8. Couldn’t be happier with it !

That’s pretty incredible. I’m preparing for a new build and plan on hanging my reef mat on the side of the sump. Can I please ask water level did you find optimal for your use?

I use one - mainly as I travel frequently for work, so for me; automation is the only way to make having a tank a possibility.

Thought it wasn’t doing anything, particularly as my skimmer was still efficient, so I took it off for a month.

Well my water started accumulating yellowing phenols, my vanadium went up to 25ug/L, my nitrates went from a solid 10ppm to 27ppm.

My LPS loved it but my SPS didn’t, and my tank is SPS dominant.

I accept the some people have a need, but I don’t see one for me. I don’t use a roller or any mechanical filtration in my reefs.
