I had an issue where my shipment from Neptune got crossed up, and somehow and I got another person's order and they got mine. Neptune gave me a form to ship it to him, and he was supposed to ship mine to me. I did that 21 days ago, and he got it just a couple of days later. No big deal, mistakes happen.

11 days went by and I still didn't have my package. I sent Neptune an e-mail saying I hadn't seen my order yet, and asked if they had any information. Four days after that, I got a reply saying the guy had shipped it out the day before (8 days ago).

Today I got a "Ticket resolved" notice from Neptune, but I still don't have my package. I replied and let them know I hadn't seen it, and didn't even have a tracking number to check. They answered quickly and provided a tracking number. When I checked it, I saw that he just sent it today about three hours after I had replied to Neptune. 22 days after the other guy received my order. I see no excuse for him not making the effort to repay the kindness I showed by shipping his as soon as I could. Even being out of town isn't a valid excuse because he apparently told them he had shipped it out 8 days ago. Honestly, I would be hard pressed to find somebody more busy than I am, but I made it happen right away.

Luckily I didn't need the item immediately. If I did, the other guy could have cashed my system to crash. Folks in this hobby have generally been great, but there are a few true jerks out there. Try not to be one.

I sell online from time to time, and thankfully, I have never had anything like that happen.

If I did, I would have immediately shipped a replacement to each of you, and emailed each customer a return shipping label.

That protects privacy and reputation.

no way would i let a company make me do their fixing! i would have refused the package if i saw a different name on the shipping label and in the event that it was addressed to me with wrong product i would have shipped it back to the return address! no way would i be held responsible for a lost or stolen package. we are customers not middlemen.

Yeah, that was totally wrong. It is up to the company to fix their mess up....you shouldn't be dealing with another one of their customers because they shipped to the wrong location.

That's awful sorry you went through this. It's not ok at all.

Same with my business, mistakes happen but I won't leave it to the customers to correct it.

We keep forgetting that Neptune is actually a small private company. We share so much informations with them its scary

Small doesn't excuse anything in this day and age, in fact, it makes them MORE liable. Small companies don't have tons of red tape to deal with. They can, will, and *should* deal with things quickly and efficiently. Only huge companies should have any lag -- that's the nature of modern business. Small is fast, big is slow. not the other way around.

Could not agree more.

Yeah, that's absolutely ludicrous... That's not on you to figure out. I had a similar situation happen with Corsair, with some RAM for a high-end computer build; I ordered eight sticks of desktop RAM, to the tune of $1200. Then the box that I received had an original address label with someone else's name, and they were in a different state. But the destination label from UPS, out of their customs center (Corsair typically drop ships directly from Hong Kong) had my info.

Lo and behold, I open the box, and it's a $70 pack of value notebook RAM. lol. So, not even Corsair's screw up, totally on UPS. I call Corsair first, they say no problem, the other customer probably got your stuff, we're on it. This was around one o'clock in the afternoon on let's say a Wednesday. At 8:00 AM on Thursday, FedEx shows up on my doorstep with a super-critical-priority-overnight-we ship human organs like this-package, with my RAM. That Corsair shipped another set of, to me, FROM FREAKING HONG KONG IN LESS THAN 24 HOURS! At no charge.

Then, they call me within like 10 minutes of that, probably as soon as the delivery alert dinged to someone, and tell me that UPS got my original stuff from the other person, would have it to me tomorrow, I should give their driver the other person's package, and that I can keep both sets of my RAM. Use them, sell them, we don't care, please enjoy, so sorry for the inconvenience.

Again, not even their mistake. That was 100% on UPS, but they still took care of it, and in a stunning fashion. But Neptune does that to you? Yeah, that other guy is a complete jerk. But that shouldn't have been for you to sort out.

Agreed 100%. I really want to see the OPs response and if they have proof that Neptune actually did this to them. Because this if true should be a serious concern for future buyers. Especially since the only way to buy replacement reagents for the Trident is directly through their website at this time.

I made the same mistake last week and sent two customers each other shipments. The labels were mixed up so they each got each others orders.

I told them to keep the items and resent the original orders on the next batch of shipments. If they didnt want the items I supplied a label to have them returned. I cannot legally demand any items be returned or shipped elsewhere if I mistakenly ship them. If the customers will return items I consider it a kindness on their behalf and usually provide a discount for a future order.

Customer service can have an enormous effect on word of mouth influence. Small mistakes like these should be accounted for on the business' end if they hope to have returning customers.

Sharing private information with another customer sounds like a serious no-no.

Also, how can Neptune guarantee that the other customer didn’t open your package, take your new controller (or whatever you bought), and ship you his old one?

Seems like shenanigans. I’d cancel the charges on my card (item never delivered) and order from somewhere else.
