Hello everyone. I joined R2R bought a month or so ago. Thought i would give my story. Three years ago i was given a chance to take a 29 gal bio cube. It was already running and growing tons of grass. ( hair algae ) for the next 6-8 months i through time and money at the cube. Mostly clean up crews and live rocks. Did not run a skimmer or any kind of reactor. Just when i was getting the 29 bio cube looking great i was given a 60 gal fresh water setup which i turned into saltwater. I transfered some things from the 29 into the 60. Gave the 29 back to the person i got it from since they were in a position to have another tank. Almost 2 years into my 60 gal.

Welcome home, you will love it here!

Wow what a beautiful tank and a neat transformation to look at! Well done! ;)

what do think was the success of the 29 down to? what did you end up with setup wise?
I ended up believing my success in the 29 bio cube was 3 water changes a week. 2 salt water changes and one fresh. Roughly about 3 gallons at a time. Husbandry is a big key in keeping a good tank. Over the last 3 years i have notice when i slack on taking care of the tank it becomes algae infested. Most of my issues in the begining was not knowing what i was looking at. While i had the 29 i did not have a skimmer. I had a sump refugium make shift 10gal tank that i through macro algae at. That same 29 bio cube is at a friends house still running today.

im running a similar setup on mine but cant seem 2 keep the dt algae in check. ill be honest i do 30% wc about fortnightly.
your tanks look really nice and the transformation of the 29g is inspiring, may even inspire me into doing more to mine haha : )
good work

Everyone says my tank looks good but for some reason i feel a little disappointed with my capabilities ro make it great. The hardest thing that makes this hobby difficult is time. I got only 40ish years left grow dang it. Lol
