So I'm looking into getting the new apex the wifi one was just wondering what everyone thinks about it should I get it and if so what add ons should I buy for it. Thank you.

Personally I love it, along with some of the add-ons. I really like the WAV and DOS/DDR combo. How large is your tank? Do you already own power heads, do you dose etc? What lighting setup do you own?

I upgraded from the Apex Classic to the new Apex and love the extra features on Fusion. Setup was easier than the Apex Classic and the new calibration feature allowed me to calibrate all the probes in less than 5 minutes. I say go for it!

I have a 36 gallon, and I'm running a fluval circulation pump, I upgraded my Skimmer to the tunze 9004 Skimmer, for lighting I have a fluval 25000K LED light, also have a active aqua chiller hooked up, and I'm new to the hobby and R2R what do u mean for dose?

Apex is great. Recently saved me from having a horrible leak. Features are great and seemingly endless. Worth the investment for sure.

Agree with all of the above. Have mine little over a year now and wish I got it sooner.
Fusion is great tool, makes programming easier and options are next to limitless. Will be upgrading on some of the add-ons as well.

If you like to have control in a simple and complete package; go get one! :)

Sounds like I will be ordering soon!

I have the new Apex and have to say it is awesome. It has saved me from two failed heaters so far (both were old that I re-purposed from other tanks).

I am slowly expanding mine with plans to get the new ATK (Apex's Auto Top-Off Kit) when it is available and DOS/DDR combo. I may even trade out my Gyres for some of the WAVs - but that is pending observing another tank's long-term use of the WAVs.

The new apex tells you when equipment isn't running correctly? Like example it tells you when your heaters broke?

I had 60 gallon tank before moving to 350g total volume. Apex was single best thing I did. I wouldnt be able to run all automation & have protection I have now. Having said that, for smaller tanks I think it's an overkill. I think it all depends how much automation & investment you have in your tank and how much piece of mind you want. For smaller tanks, you can get away with having timers set up. More work, but a lot less money. If you are an inner (or outter nerd), Apex is definitely a must.

I love my apex, but I never understood the appeal of the DDR. I just use a couple of Mr. Chilis Mixing Jugs from BRS with 1/4" push connect fittings installed in the lids. This gets you an additional 1.7ish liters over the DDR with the only downside being the jugs don't look as nice and there is no level sensor. Plus you can take that $190 you saved and put it towards more meaningful upgrades, like some WAV's or a leak detector module.

It sent me an alert that the outlet was drawing too much power and it shut it off. When I put it in a bucket with water I found that both had shorted out, which without the Apex would have cooked my tank.

Just one other question I have wifi at my place, but my laptop is a MacBook Pro will that work for updating firmware?

Yes, however I just log in through Fusion and let the Apex update itself. Then it doesn't matter what type of device you use.

Okay thank you and on the app I download for my phone does it let me see what is going on when I am away from home?
