Any recommendations on a 36” opening in my stand?
Wife decided she doesn’t like seeing the sump. Oops.

Make a shaker style door with a clear, inset panel of either glass or acrylic. Call it a "compromise", sleep on the couch for a week, and then get back to enjoying the view.Any recommendations on a 36” opening in my stand?

Ooooo that's a great idea. I'll have to see what I can find for panels.I would try to find a thin panel of some sort and some magnets.
I had been looking at doors from Ikea. They have a bunch of similar ones. I'm not super experienced with woodwork/cabinet making so I wasn't sure if I would need a divider down the middle or if I could get away with a few tabs as stoppers (or if I should just go oversized so the stand stops them from over swinging).Make a shaker style door with a clear, inset panel of either glass or acrylic. Posted!Have a full picture of the stand?
Posted!I'd like to see a pic of the whole stand before suggesting something.
Hey nowJust get rid of the wife . Problem solved.
ah, ok. I see why she does not want to look at it. A good cleaning is where you need to start. Then, maybe show her pictures of what that fuge section could look like with some sand/mud and cool macros growing in there...if that is what you intended for that section. That and some lighting might change her mood. Here is picture of stand![]()
he's probably single.Hey now
I’ve got a kreg and built my stand for 25 gallon.. it still doesn’t have a door. I need to run to Home Depot so I’ll see what they have. Thanks! If this were mine and I had the same request, my first thought would be to hit the box stores and see if I could find a pair of pre-made door blanks that would span the opening with enough to cover each side by at least 1/2" ( each side)
Probably add a wood strip ( 1-1/2" top to bottom) in the middle to give the doors a stop point. You could use plain flat mounted hinges to each side ( 2 per door).
You didn't mention your woodworking level or tools on hand.
Make your own? Plywood and some flat trim?
