Dorm Tank Ideas

I don't know where you are located but I have one lol just shipping would probably be a nightmare. I think the Fusion 10 is worth the money. Maybe just save a little longer to get it? That's what I had to do.
I have a year to save up as I am only in 8th grade. I just spent over $100 though at a frag swap :p
I am in Central Va. Is that too far away?

Nano salt water tanks are notoriously hard to keep. I would highly recommend a planted fresh water tank in the 10 gal range.

I have never kept freshwater. I went straight to saltwater. I know absolutely nothing about fresh water tanks :D
I do like the looks of planted tanks though

Here is the link. He started with a Fluval Chi but then upgraded to the IM Fusion 10... then IM Fusion 20.... Then JBJ 45 lol. But you can check out how he did his Fusion 10

Honestly you probably dont need a skimmer at all if youre not going to have SPS corals.
Very cool!! Thank you so much for sharing!!

You could get away with a clown goby. I picked up an 8 gal jbj that had a pair of very tiny clowns in it.
I honestly did not find my 5 gallon pico hard at all. It was mostly LPS and softies. I think where people fail is that they try and put a bio load into a tiny tank. I would not put a pair of clowns in a 5, 8 or 10 gallon tank. I had no fish in my pico. I had a couple of snails a couple of hermits and a shrimp.

I can't agree more

I was also think about getting this tank and and sectioning off a section with a baffle for all the filtration, heater, etc. What does everyone think?

I also would do a planted freshwater tank. They are fun and much more stable in the smaller size. I have a 12 gallon fluval edge.

Aquariums are all the same. You just have half the headaches and water changes take about 1/10th the work. No skimmers, gfo, carbon, salt mixing to mess with.
5 gallon bucket and some dechorlinator and your maintenance is done.

Fresh water shrimp nano tanks can be VERY cool.
Amano shrimp, red cherry shrimp. cardinal shrimp, golden bee shrimp. Harlequin shrimp. ............... shrimp soup, shrimp gumbo, shrimp kabob, shrimp salad, shrimp sandwich

They come in a wide range of colors

Would I need an hob filter?
How different shrimp can you put together in a 5-10 gallon tank? How many shrimp in a tank that big?
Thanks.

The IM 10 fusion is actually my ideal choice, I'm just not sure I can afford it. I am only 14 and my parents make me pay for everything for my tank (I am fine with that too) I have been keeping an eye out for any used IM 10 gallon tanks and equipment for sale. Please let me know if you here anything :p
Please post that link!! Thank you!!

I picked up a new I'm nuvo10 on eBay for 55 bucks. Just keep your eye out for one.

Great little tank. Weekly 50% water change and it is as stable as my MT. No skimmer. No dosing. No fuss.
