Dosing Creatine

I’ve seen studies that show elevated levels of creatine in the gametes and gonads of a bunch of different sea life and I remember seeing somewhere that it’s used in commercial fisheries to enhance breeding.

Im not doubting it's possible benefits considering how creatine can enhance adenosine triphosphate cycling in human cells I dont see why it would be much different in any other animal cells.

It just reminded me of the whole HGH controversy back in the day on RC. I was very skeptical of it considering it proposal that a primate growth hormone could have similar effects on cnidarians.

The use of creatine as a beneficial supplement is much much more plausible.

Might this just be an effect of adding bioavailable nitrogen, same as adding amino acids?
Easy to test for one outcome. Dose a sample of aquarium water with creatine and test for ammonia the next day.

Could be. There is something different there though with promoting spawning. When I started with adding creatine, I had a pair of zebra damsels that all of sudden started spawning every two weeks. Shrimps that weren’t spawning prior also started spawning. I saw an explosion in feather duster worms and sponges on the rock.

This is interesting. Had to stop using Creatine myself it gave me Kidney Stones.

Give it a try and let us know if you see something similar. I haven’t noticed any adverse effects other than maybe a little more nitrate if I add too much and sponges on the rock if you don’t like them.
